Description
DailyTravel is an app designed by Westat to collect travel information for transportation studies. This information includes the location of places visited by participants along with details that explain the why, how, and when of travel to these places.
Transportation planners will use information collected from this study to develop forecasts of future travel in your city, region, and state. A number of households have been randomly selected to participate and represent households in the entire region. Only selected households have been provided a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and are able to use the DailyTravel app. The information that your household and other households in the survey provide will help build a complete and accurate picture of state and local transportation needs so that public funds for improvements can be spent where they are needed most.
Please visit the DailyTravel support website for more information.
Warning: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Ratings and Reviews
Problem with place entry
The first day I went to the bank as my first stop. Now it keeps putting bank when I try to put home. Even when I’m careful and check my last entry of the day as returning home, I come back the next morning and it has changed it to bank.
Battery Drain & Poor UX
Out of all the apps that run GPS in the background, this app will nuke your battery. So much so I couldn’t wait for the survey period to be over.
The interface quality poor, especially since its focus is on user travel behavior. The interface is archaic, questions are bloated and could be streamlined, and certain inputs are buggy. For example the location nearby. The data collected would be of higher quality if the app took a simple approach of “hey you’re giving us info, let’s make it easy and delightful for you”.
Keep track
Good way to know where you’ve been. The main irritant is that the map shows places near where you were or where you parked, you have to type the location in. Overall helpful.
