Description
***Way named 2023 & 2024 Best Non Diet App by Healthline***
Originally, the word "diet" comes from the Greek word "diaita", which means "way of living".
Sounds like our concept of a "diet" meaning a restrictive program is pretty far off the original meaning, right?
No wonder restrictive diets have an 83% failure rate (some studies say 95-97% failure rate).
Instead, Way is an intuitive eating and mindful eating app, that helps you listen to your body and align your way of living and eating to your values.
Grounded in intuitive eating and mindfulness within the cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) framework, Way has 2-8 minute sessions within three Pathways: Mindful Shifts, Emotional Eats, and Body Feels. The objective of each Pathway is:
Mindful Shifts - To unlearn the "perfect" body image that's perpetuated by diet culture, and reframe a new body image that's based on your values. We find consistently that body image is the most common trigger to the restrict-binge eating cycle (which is the main reason why restrictive diets fail so often).
Emotional Eats - Emotions Influence eating. Don't "fight" or try to "stop" them, like what the results say when you type "Emotional Eating' into Google. Connect with emotions, understand where they come from, and find more harmony with food.
Body Feels - Your body is talking. Feel it, and learn to listen what it's saying.
These sessions deliver progressive, self-derived learning through three core practices and are sequenced in a specific order, as designed by the best intuitive eating dietitians, top behavior scientists from institutions like Columbia University, Duke University, and the University of California.
Some additional key benefits:
+ Cultivating greater self-awareness and self-curiosity about eating patterns and habits of thinking around mealtime and nutrition.
+ Developing a mindful ability to **pause** between stimulus and response with food. This includes developing foresight and planning as it relates to food and your body - the **pause** is a core tenet of nearly all mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) practices. With a pause, you get more freedom to decide what will make your body feel good and what will bring you more joy, happiness, or align with your values in life.
+ Building greater self-acceptance, self-kindness and disarming the negative “self talk” that can be a thief of energy and is the signature of diet culture.

Ratings and Reviews
Good concept. App needs improvement.
I don’t get any notifications even though I have that checked in the settings. I am having a bit of trouble navigating the app. It doesn’t give any options to answer “none of the above“
on questions that are multiple choice, such as, “Which exercise did you struggle with the most?” There also aren’t enough instructions as to how to proceed through the exercises. I’m just feeling my way through and I’m not sure where I’m going. So, even though I’m finding it to be somewhat helpful in my journey to peace with food, the app itself isn’t quite what I would hope for. Like other reviewers I’ve also experienced some sentences being cut off with ellipses with seemingly no way to read the rest of the text.
Developer Response ,
Hi DBarP! Thanks for downloading and playing with Way. Sorry to hear you were looking for notifications and didn't get any coming through. We usually have many notifications going, that are meant to inspire and spark thoughts around finding more peace in the relationships with food and body, but we are currently going through a renaissance of the notification framework, with some exciting new updates there coming soon. To address your point about the certain question/response types - having or not having certain response types is intentional and part of the behavior science within Way. We generally have found the 95%+ of Way Members are able to get some additional clarity, additional inspiration, from the questions and easier answers leading into larger questions - in this case, the "which session did you struggle with the most?", we love to hear that "none of the above" is what you wanted to answer! Glad none of the past sessions you already completed made you struggle :) In this case, you may not feel like you struggled with any session, but it's a *relative* question, that is meant to help illuminate any areas of challenge to help you focus on what sessions in Way you may want to do *next*, either to focus on more or less challenging areas (although in this case, sounds like none of the sessions were challenging for you :)). As for the sentences being cut off with ellipses, that should have been fixed and if you're still experiencing trouble, we'd love to hear more in detail and see how we can fix it for you and prevent it happening to anyone else. 99%+ of Way members have no troubles like this anymore, so we would love to learn more and really appreciate it if you could email us at hello@eatmyway.com. Thank you for going through so many Way sessions and despite the small troubles you were having, hope it helped find a little more peace in your relationships with food and your body in some way!
Love the concept, but the app is very buggy..
The concept and info included is amazing, but the app is just too buggy to use. Had some issues completing several sessions that kept locking up. Then one prompt used answers from a previous session, but none of the answers were ones I inputted. If they could fix the bugs (which looking at the reviews have been an ongoing issue), then the app would be worth it 100%. I won’t be keeping after free trial, because my frustration with the app (like having to rewrite my response 5 times to an in depth question) was undoing any benefit from the content in addition to making it hard to progress.
Also, I have an iPhone 12.
Developer Response ,
Hello! Thanks for your note and sharing that you're on an iPhone 12. We would love to hear more about your experience and learn what parts about the app are "very buggy", which sessions kept locking up, and where answers weren't showing. All of those fixes have been made a long time ago for iPhone 12, so if you're experiencing issues we definitely want to learn about them so we can make sure to accurately make the fixes and help all of our customers. We're really sorry that the experience was frustrating - we definitely agree that typing and retyping an answer to an in-depth question is no fun, but we know that most issues like this are fixed, so identifying/troubleshooting exactly what happen for you is a priority. Our Customer Service is always available and links is here and on our App Store page (https://www.eatmyway.com/contact-us/) - we welcome and appreciate if you could contact us at hello@eatmyway.com so we can get to the bottom of the issues. We'd be happy to extend you a free month of the subscription if and when you'd like to come back. Thanks again for trying Way and hope we can help you soon! With love, The Way Team
Not ready for prime time
I spent less than 10 minutes with this app before I cancelled my subscription. The first exercise asks you to identify the first food rule you learned, but then quickly moves on to summarize the lesson by saying that you’ve explored multiple food rules. The next exercise asks you to identify a food scenario that you’ve experienced recently and how you felt. That one was fine. Then the 3rd exercise takes that info and tries to dig deeper, but can’t because no matter what I’ve written in the 2nd exercise, the third one tries to help me with eating while bored. Even though that’s not the issue I identified. It’s a great idea for an app but this one isn’t worth paying money for.
** Reading through the reviews I see that I’m not the only one having these problems with the app.

Hi Spraklepea! Thanks for downloading and playing with Way a little. Sorry to hear you struggled with the experience. Although some vocal users have had trouble, the VAST majority (99%+) of our 10,000+ downloads have had a seamless experience. So, let's dive into your feedback - and again, thank you for sharing and we'd really love to hear from you in more detail, and help you in any way we can - just email us at hello@eatmyway.com. To address your issues...Sounds like there's some confusion here and a bit of a difference between what you're reporting on the Food Rules screen and what is actually written - we're not saying that you've "explored multiple food rules", we clearly say, "We asked you about the Food Rules you learned early on, because rules that are passed down and collected throughout your life often shape your relationship with food." It's a very different point we're making and it has a profound effect on 95%+ of Way members - asking about Food Rules goes into the origin of the relationship with food, which is very helpful in exploring the thoughts, emotions, and feelings behind the relationship with food, today. The 3rd exercise was a known issue, but it has been fixed - if you're still having an issue with the session, we'd love to see screenshots and learn how we can make sure that we account for your device or set up. **Again, thank you for sharing your feedback and the experience you had. We hope this helps clarify and we'd love to hear from you directly to understand how we can fix the current issues and prevent them from happening again. Warm regards, the Way Team.
