Enjoying Updated Trucker Path

I’ve been subscribed to trucker for more than a couple of years. I prefer a truck gps on a phone App and not have too many devices on the windshield. I get to see most of the scenery. Trucker path has improved a lot by adding traffic lights and stop signs on its App graphics. It’s so much easier making turns by knowing the number of traffic lights or stop signs ahead of me. Trucker path takes me right into the Entrance and Exit of almost all of the shipping and receiving businesses and truck-stops. The best thing that I’ve always liked about Trucker Path is that it lets me know the amount of parking spaces that truck-stops have and if there are still some spaces left. Trucker Path never breaks down like overheating which I’ve experienced with a conventional gps device in the past. The only thing bad that I’ve experienced is that it always takes me to Rochelle, NY, from the I-95. It still thinks that there are low bridges in Rochelle, NY, but the bridges are not low anymore in Rochelle, NY. It’s really hard getting out of Rochelle, NY, because there is limited space and lots of people.

Developer Response ,

We appreciate your detailed feedback of Trucker Path's performance on your device, and we're glad to know you've found our app a reliable companion in so many things related to your trips. We'd love to look into the low bridges in Rochelle, we may have to get this updated on the backend with our customer service team. We can certainly help, please reach us at support@truckerpath.com.

Invaluable app

This is not a secret that this is the first app many of as CDL holder get once we get on the road. Check the WS status, history, reviews, parking spaces. Everything is wonderful. However I don’t understand the new parking system. It just doesn’t make sense. For a longer time all we had is empty, somewhat full, and full. Which was fine. But the this new way of selecting parking availability came up when we can check even more in depth, more increments in showing how full the parking is. Which is better. However why do these increments work only when updating the status but it still show the “old” way of empty, somewhat full, and full. For example, if most people selected 3/4 full when updating the status and someone, who’s looking for the parking, decides to check the status it will show him “full” or completely red. Well, it doesn’t make sense. When I update the status I didn’t intend to show that it’s “full” I intend to show “3/4 full”. In other words the updating system and the status system should look the same. So when one is looking for the parking, it would be possible to see that parking space is 95% full, not just red. For instance, (real life) there are around 10 parking spots on this huge track stop. Let’s call it 97% full. If enough people mark it 9/10 full, it will be visible. But it it will just show “red” (full) it’s useless for people in need of parking and it’s just interpreting it wrong.

Buyers beware

I have been driving for over 9 years and have close to 2 million safe miles. I decided to not get a new Rand McNally because I did not think they were updating their systems well at all post covid. I had used the free version of trucker path for years and it was absolutely fantastic. It helps with finding great places to do breaks and you could engage with other drivers about open spaces and status of weigh stations etc. So i thought i would give the diamond membership a go and use the GPS they have available. I am not sure if they are just lacking in technology, but this GPS is horrible. I was lucky to have experience and knew better than to take some of the routes they suggested, but a new driver would be in quite the pickle if they exclusively used this tool to navigate. It will take you down routes that technically may be allowed for trucks, but if you know better you would never take. It is not worth the money what so ever and new drivers with less than 2 years experience i would say get an atlas first and then use a more reputable and established gps to supplement your route planning. I hope they can improve this paid gps in the future bc i love all the other aspects of this app and the operators of the app deserve to monetize their product, its really that helpful….but i cannot say with an honest breath that at this moment i would recommend the gps.
