Description

A game about the Czech student protests against the German occupation of 1939.

Train to Sachsenhausen is a history-based game that relates the dramatic events tied to the closing of Czech universities in November 1939.

Through the game, you follow several days in the life of a student of medicine during demonstrations against the German occupation. The game covers the funeral of Jan Opletal, arrests made at university dorms, detention at the Ruzyně prison, and afterwards deportation to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp in Germany.

The game also includes a virtual museum put together by professional historians. The museum contains testimonies and memories shared by actual witnesses to that chapter in history, along with period documents and photographs.

The Train to Sachsenhausen educational game was created by Charles Games and Živá paměť with financial support from the EVZ Foundation as part of the Young People Remember programme. The game does not represent an expression of any opinions held by the EVZ Foundation or the German Federal Foreign Office. Its authors bear sole responsibility for the content.

Dr. Zachary Smith ,

Covers an important topic

First of all, my apologies. I originally rated this app low because I could not change the language. But the option is there, in the menu: CZ/EN/DE. But I’m still a little confused. How does the scene swiping work? Does one way mean yes, and the other way mean no?

Developer Response ,

Hi Zachary, thank you for the feedback! We are glad you figured out the language option mechanics. Moving on to your question. The impacts of options in the game's narrative are various. Some options lead to a discovery of more information about the period or scene, some provide you a choice between two important decisions about your character's life. Choosing between two options is not therefore strictly divided into yes/no options. I hope my answer helped! :)

A favor, please…🙏

Developers, please include Landscape view for this game… I would so much enjoy that option — if you do this, let me know so I can play it on my iPad — then I will update my review of your otherwise promising game.

Developer Response ,

Hi, thanks for the feedback. We are aware of the iPad issue and we are working on fixing it, just give us a little more time :) Thanks!
