Description

English and French version !!!

“Was the can opener invented before or after the light bulb? Well, in any case, it was after glasses for sure... although... And what if it was from somewhere between the telegraph and the telephone?”

That's the kind of question you'll be facing each time you want to place one of your medallions in Timeline. There's only one goal here: to be the first to have correctly placed all of their medallions.

Timeline can be played alone thanks to its two solo modes (a classic mode and a very stressful against the clock mode!), but can also play up to 4 players with no issues, around the iPad. There is no need to pass the iPad around and loads of party fun is guaranteed!
Under its very simple appearances, Timeline hides a real gaming principle of choice and risk taking. Of course, the educational and learning aspects aren't forgotten, either, as each game allows players to learn or relearn (sometimes with a few surprises) the key dates of History, but also some a bit more anecdotal, such as the invention of the computer mouse.
Indeed, a short text is often available in relation to the item in question. You'll be able to learn more about the airplane, the Ford Model T, the telegraph or safety matches, all without interrupting the flow of the game.
In addition to all that, Timeline is an invitation, after each game, to document and further one's knowledge on the periods of History seen during the game. Thus, when the question of “replayability” is asked, it's easy to answer that if a player knows all the dates by heart, what that player has lost in “replayability”, they've gained in knowledge!

This application includes 116 items to date in the category of Inventions, 13 items in the category of Monuments, 5 items in the category of Music and 10 items in the category of Arts & Literature. Over 300 items are already available in the Appstore, and many more are to come!

Timeline is a simple game for the whole family, in which each player has to get rid of their medallions by placing them in a chronological line. On each medallion is the drawing of an invention, a discovery, an historical event, a famous artwork, etc. and its name. If a player places their medallion correctly in time, there's one medallion less in front of them, and they get that closer to victory. If, on the other hand, they get it wrong, a new medallion is given to them. The game ends when a player has placed all of their medallions correctly.

Great design and play

Game runs great. Local multiplayer has a great setup and design. Solo mode is also fun and challenging.

5 stars if it had online multiplayer

Game plays really well. I'm not a history buff, so I can't comment on accuracy, but I'm sure they do their homework. Game mechanics work really well - I always think about getting the card version to play with my boys. Wish it had online play - would be so much more fun to play against friends, but of course others would likely just cheat, hence the lack of the feature.

Great Implementation of a Fun and Educational Card Game

This is a fun card game with a simple goal - place a card in your hand in the correct order on the existing timeline of cards. The timeline only starts with one card, but becomes more complex as more cards/dates are added.

There is an arguement to be made about replayability - if you have a photographic memory or play this a bunch, you're gonna get a feel for what should go where - but with over 300 cards in the pool, you'll get your money's worth before the well runs dry.

The game has a very nice presentation on the iPad. The UI is good and everything is intuitive. It supports solo and local multiplayer modes - although I'd love to see some kind of online multiplayer in a future release. As it is, there are Game Center leaderboards, which are a nice touch. There's also a few grammatical issues I noticed (I assume from the translation from French to English), but nothing too distracting.

Nicely done.
