The Rise of the Golden Idol 12+

I enjoyed this game more than I can put into words. The mechanism where you enter words into blanks to essentially “solve” the scenario was strange at first but once I got the hang of it, I absolutely loved it. Remember those logic puzzles from childhood where you’d be asked “who sat in this seat?” And then be given clues like “Nancy sat two seats away from her best friend” and “Margaret won’t sit next to Sarah or Patrick”? This game is like, the evolution of those puzzles. Figuring out identities, putting the pieces together to solve the scenario, and THEN on top of that, all the scenarios end up fitting together in this larger story?? Amazing. I’m someone who always guesses the plot twist and this game’s story surprised (and delighted) me! Usually puzzle games end up just being hidden pictures, or too obvious to really be challenging, but not this one. BRB, I see other people mentioning this is a sequel, so now I must go find the first game. I’m dying for more content. Please keep making these!!

The original series I bought last year on Steam. I was immediately drawn to it and bought all the expansions! This sequel is more of the same, which is to say a dream come true. When I was a child I loved those logic puzzles with the grids and such, and this scratches that itch. Rarely do you need to sketch things out, if your memory is working as intended. The a-ha moments as things start to click are very unique to this game. You go like “whoa so this guy killed this guy because of that?” and then more things start clicking. You discover the story by more than just your visual queues, you start making hypothesis, which ar often wrong and then you get your mind blown over and over again. Great writing, great lore and great mechanics make this game one of my favorite games of the past few years, and I play a lot!

I’ve never written a review on any game I’ve ever played before so when I tell you this game is top-tier, it’s TOP-TIER. Personally, I think this game was very well-made and it really captivated me unlike anything else. I finished this game in 4 to 5 days because I quite literally could not enough. I just wanna congratulate the devs because they created something I’ve never seen before, and it drew me in entirely. The storyline was so interesting and so enjoyable and this game is so well-made and so different. Thankfully, I did not experience any bugs personally so I made the gameplay really enjoyable. So now I’m gonna ask that you please please add another storyline or make another game with the same structure because I’ve never enjoyed anything more.
