I can appreciate that there is a lot to consider when building an app, but I really struggle to use this one effectively. For starters, customizing the UI for readability is extremely limited. I use the app on an iPad in landscape mode and the columns are not consistently sized. I would turn the iPad to portrait, but it would disconnect the keyboard.
Getting the gist of articles in the smallest column on the right requires me to open each article just to know what it’s covering. There’s plenty of space for advertising, but there’s no discernible section for providing feedback on each article, which is really important to me. Allowing for public discourse is a great way to engage readers and increase readership. It also gives the editorial folks an idea of what subscribers are looking for. Cater to your audience and subscriptions will increase. Without the option for public discourse people will be less interested in what is being published, and subscriptions will continue to decrease.
So, a complete overhaul of the UI is in order. If you can pull this off and make the app more accessible (customizable, intuitive, encouraging of feedback, AND equally useful to those with special needs), then you will have made a great app. What you’re offering misses the mark, but I’m looking forward to significant improvements.

For whatever reason, the replica (E-Edition) version was dropped with the last upgrade to the Daily Oklahoman. I’ve been a customer for over 50 years. I was even sent the paper when overseas. Since those times, I’ve seen the paper shrink twice in size, shrink significantly in content, drop the separate TV schedule and sky rocket in price. For the last several years, I’ve been reading the paper on an iPad since the paper doesn’t arrive until 9-10am. Now, you’ve dropped the e-edition or replica edition. Now it’s just scattered articles - news, sports, business - with no organized sections. Either restore the replica edition or I cancel my subscription, like everyone else seems to have done. PS - Your Subscription ladies, who talk to customers, are the most uncaring, rude employees I’ve ever spoken with. Graham Robertson The Village

Ever since this app was updated, it is disfunctional.…first, why do I have to put up with ads when I have a paid subscription to the e-newspaper? Second, every time i touch my iPad screen, the page goes to an index page of The Oklahoman which I have to close out a dozen or more times when trying to read the paper. Third, stop turning articles yellow when you accidentally touch one. It’s annoying and distracting. Fourth, move the darn page arrows away from the menu bar on the right, or move the menu bar someplace else so it’s not a problem when going to the next page, or give us the option to close the menu bar completely unless we want to use it. Fifth, I ALWAYS want my paper to open to a print Replica, but haven’t been able to find anyplace that I can set it up that way. Lastly, when turning to the next page, I want the paper to always be visible from the top of the page so I don’t have to scroll up or down after every page turn. It’s ridiculous.
