Description

Have you ever dreamed of making it big from the seat of a tractor? Here's your chance to prove that you've got what it takes to farm with the best of them!

THE FARMING GAME®, a Monopoly style board game where players harvest crops with the roll of the dice, dodge droughts, uncertain markets and insects. Buy land, cattle, wheel and deal. Always different and always a challenge. Build the best farm in the county. A truly rewarding time that entertains, teaches and is just plain fun. An International award-winning game! Hundreds of thousands of copies sold. Fresh from the country. A classic family board game! So much fun, some people say it's the best game they've ever played, others call it addictive. This international award-wining game has sold hundreds of thousands of copies. So educational, it has been used by homeschoolers and thousands of schools around the world. So realistic, World Bank had it translated into Russian to assist farm privatization. Good clean wholesome fun. THE FARMING GAME ® is perfect for home on any rainy day or family get together, for a weekend up at the cabin, or down at the beach. A great gift for anyone, including yourself! One size fits all. PLOW THE BACK FORTY ON YOUR KITCHEN TABLE A board game is a dream machine, a vehicle to create an alternative reality. In THE FARMING GAME®, each player starts the game with 20 acres inherited from Grandpa. This property includes 10 acres in hay and 10 acres in grain. The 20 acres is not a large enough farm to make a living for a family, so each game farmer must also have a part-time job in town. With each completed trip around the game board you receive $5,000 from your year's wages to plow back into the farm. The object of THE FARMING GAME" is to build your farm large enough to be able to quit the job in town, come home to be your own boss, and farm full time. If you can do that without going broke, you win the game! $250,000 in total net assets are required to win THE FARMING GAME®. The gaming track is the calendar year, with a square for each week. Crops are harvested by the roll of the dice (about as much control as real farmers feel they have over yields and prices received for their crops). In THE FARMING GAME®, there is enough acreage for six players to diversify into a hay, grain, fruit, or cattle operation. Each individual farm is capable of pasturing 20 head of cattle. If any player wishes to run more than 20 cows, he can try to lease one of the range units in the hills. Warning: This family game is so much fun it may become habit-forming!

Upset

Update: got a good explanation from the developer which I appreciate. I do like the game and the new graphics are good. The only thing I don’t like is if you try to up the amount it takes to win the game but don’t start the game, when you get back into it it doesn’t reset it back to the normal value so you have to take the time to reset it manually. Otherwise it’s a good game.

It’s kinda crappy that you had to make a whole new app and charge people again who already bought the game in the old version. I was expecting an update, not a new app and a new charge.

Developer Response ,

Hi golfanatic8402 sorry you're not happy with the price. I felt like this version was enough different that it needed to be a new app. Also it did take me about 3x as much time to develop as so I was hoping that fans of the project wouldn't mind the cost. I haven't been able to update the previous version since about 2014 because the tools that are used stopped being supported. So this version was completely from scratch (including converting any reusable code from Objective C to C#).
But I do understand that it could be frustrating to pay for the app a second time. So since you have previously paid for the original version, if you can still get a refund, I would be happy to send you a promo code for a free copy. Just shoot me an email at rrtenz@gmail.com
Also, I would ask that you reconsider updating your rating to reflect this version of the game.
Thanks, Ryan

Fix the game

They keep deleting my reviews about this game needing updated and/or to fix the issues with the game. This is a huge disappointment from playing the original classic board game. There is still the issue with the Farmers Fate card Uncle Burt and the ability for the human player to purchase the hay at a discount, however, the computer player can purchase the hay when the computer player draws the card. Either fix it so everyone can purchase the hay when drawing the Farmer’s Fate card or none can purchase to make it fair. There is also an issue with the roll of the dice and the amount of money the players get. It doesn’t add up. For an example you can have over a 120 head of cows and roll a six and make around $45,000 and then someone have just 10 head of cows and roll a one or two and make $15,000. The amount of OTBs and the type of OTBs seems to favor one player throughout the entire game too.

Love this game.

This game is great for me. We had/have the original board game at our cabin growing up and I introduced it to so many friends that love it. So when I discovered this (and the Construction Game) for the iPhone and iPad it was fantastic. Then it stopped working with the newer OS updates. So I was excited to see an updated version. Well done with the 3D update. However, aesthetically I liked the 2D version better. I’m old I guess and don’t need all the fancy graphics to enjoy the game. I’m just happy I can play it again. Please consider updating the Construction Game.

Developer Response ,

Thanks so much for the feedback. Yes I'm glad I was finally able to update the game as the old version has stopped working on newer devices. I have plans to do the Construction Game, but I have another project that I am planning to do first, so it will be some time before I get to it. Thanks!
