Description

The Art Newspaper is an online and print publication that covers the international art world. It was founded in 1990 by Umberto Allemandi and Anna Somers Cocks on the original concept of the Italian publication Il Giornale dell'Arte, founded in 1983. The Art Newspaper has offices in London and New York. Its unrivaled news and events coverage is fed by a network of sister editions, which together have more than 50 correspondents working in more than 30 countries, with editorial offices in Paris, Moscow, Shanghai, and Athens. In 2014, Inna Bazhenova became the owner of The Art Newspaper and the licensed network in China, Greece, France, and Russia.

In addition to the news, The Art Newspaper publishes reviews and commentary by leading figures in the art world, including Nicholas Serota, the former director of the Tate, Glenn Lowry, the director of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Michael Govan, the director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Thelma Golden, the director of the Studio Museum, New York, the artists Theaster Gates, Grayson Perry, Elmgreen & Dragset and Shirin Neshat - and many more.

Great content but terrible sign in protocol

The app works great as regards the content, and the content of The Art Newspaper is top notch. However, having to sign in every time one opens the app is not only onerous, it is incomprehensible in 2022. I have never encountered this issue even with much more minor apps. Please get this fixed.

The app appears to work

Not sure why other reviewers are faced with non-updating timeline — maybe it was fixed in a recent update — but I personally don’t have an issue there. Lovely resource for different art-related news, and one of the better interfaces for a news app. I wish the image resolutions across the board could be higher — after all, we need to see artworks in their full glory!

No access

The App would not update the content. I have deleted it and reinstalled it on my phone but it is now void or would not open. Subscribers beware! As per the message below from the Customer Service, if the App doesn’t work you have no access to content and you paid a subscription for nothing!
The subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store are App only access. Subscribers will only have access to the content through the app and not on desktop. These orders are handled through Apple and not The Art Newspaper.
