StreetEasy NYC Rentals 4+

If you use this app in conjunction with the website, you end up with an extremely powerful tool for researching apartment rentals in the city. It has been a huge help with my upcoming move. The neighborhood selection tool on the website is one of the best map based selection tools that I have used. You can literally lay out the map down to the individual street level. The selection tools in the app are not quite as precise, but still give a decent amount of control. I have really enjoyed using both this app and the associated website. Highly recommended...

Everyday I message 10 listings a day at least that always states “just listed” next day I receive message that says apartment has been rented or it’s in contract. I don’t understand this app. Although it’s illegal to discriminate against voucher applicants they still do. This company should require every listing to accept vouchers or not post at all and to update their listings daily. I have a 7 month old and wasting time to travel 2hrs via public transportation lifting a stroller up and down flights of stairs to only view an apartment just to be told vouchers are not accepted or be emailed some ridiculous thing about paying half month rent for “good faith hold” while application is being reviewed is insane. Non of these apps are useful for people not making over 60k, especially you have a housing voucher. Don’t know what’s the purpose.

This app does the job, but there's an annoying feature. I use this primarily on my iPad which I almost exclusively use in landscape mode. Annoyingly, this app will *always* default to portrait no matter if your orientation is locked or you're already holding your iPad in landscape. You have to unlock orientation, spin the iPad to portrait, then spin it back to landscape which is really annoying when you're using the app multiple times a day. Other apps I use will detect the orientation and adjust accordingly. This is the only one I've had a problem with.

Other than that, it works like the website does. It's a great resource for navigating the bleak landscape of ny apartments. I hope they fix this issue in a near future update.
