Cameras themselves are top of the line. It’s unfortunate that the app is not. For the life of my i cannot figure out why Spartan hasn’t stayed up to date with all development like other camera brands have. Every single other brand of cellular cameras I have has a much more user friendly, and much more feature rich app than Spartan. And now those others are starting to catch up with product quality as well. This is the bare bones of what a app should be. You can’t save pictures or videos. You can create albums. Those are pretty basic functions that other brands have had for years but Spartan does not.

I’ve tried numerous cell cameras in the past along with all their apps and Spartan is far and away better than any of them. I was reluctant to try Spartan for years due to them being around a longer time and not being the shiny new fancy cell camera others claimed to be. The inflated megapixels and claims of amazing trigger speeds and picture quality lured me to other brands for a while. After having issues with multiple cameras from other brands, I finally decided to give the tried and true, lower megapixel rating, rock solid Spartan cameras a chance. I was blown away. The 8 megapixel photos on these cameras are clearer than any 30mp on any other camera. The app is amazing and very easy to use. You can share your cameras with others and download HD photos and videos with ease. These are the best cameras I’ve ever used and will continue to be a customer for life.

Good texting camera—but the delay in transmission is unacceptable

I have reached out to Spartan multiple times because of the delay in receiving HD photos and videos. This time 6 hours after request I still have not received the videos.

According to Spartan’s customer service, they need an “event” ie trigger to the camera to FULFILL the request. So for animal rescuers or someone trying to find their lost pet, this delay is potentially life-threatening. They need IMMEDIATE data.

In the case of the above delay, because the camera was accessible to me I went outside and activated it by moving in front of it, and then went back into the house. That seemed to have triggered the download of the video.

However if this trail cam were in the wild and inaccessible to me I would’ve had to wait a long time for the video delivery or HD photo delivery until another event got it triggered again.

How Spartan is programming its system to NOT SEND VIDEOS IMMEDIATELY UPON REQUEST and waiting for another “event” for delivery of services is one reason for the low review. It is certainly not worth the $15 a month I am paying for “service.”

We do apologize for this inconvenience! This is not an app issue as it is a camera functionality. This is something the GoCams have always done. The GoLive cameras do send immediate requests due to always being conected to the server for the live stream. If you have any other questions about this please reach out to support@spartancamera.com.
