Die Soka Gakkai ist eine buddhistische Glaubensgemeinschaft, die sich für Frieden, Kultur und Bildung einsetzt. Die weltweit rund 12 Millionen Mitglieder üben den Nichiren-Buddhismus aus. Indem sie sich darum bemühen in ihrem Alltag positive Zeichen für Gewaltlosigkeit, Hoffnung und Zivilcourage zu setzen, möchten sie zu einer nachhaltigen Friedenskultur beitragen. Grundlage ihres Handelns ist das Verständnis, dass individuelles Glück und die Verwirklichung einer friedlichen Welt untrennbar miteinander verbunden sind. Die SGI-Deutschland ist die deutsche Organisation der Soka Gakkai.
