Description
Thanks to the SMA Energy app, you can see all the most important data relating to your SMA Energy System in a clearly structured format. You can intelligently manage energy flows in your household or charge your electric vehicle – sustainably with your own solar power or at high speed if you’re in a hurry. Thanks to the SMA Energy app, you can have your own personal energy transition in your pocket.
* Energy system at a glance, wherever you are *
In the visualization area, you can find all the most important energy and power data for your SMA Energy System. Whether daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, you can see exactly how much electricity your PV system produces, what it was used for and how much grid-supplied power you have remaining. This enables you to keep constant track of your energy budget.
* Optimizing and managing energy flows *
In the optimization area, you can view current forecasts for solar power production. The app shows you how to use your energy even more sustainably. For example, you can automatically utilize your own, self-generated solar power as efficiently as possible for your own needs and reduce your grid-supplied power.
* Charging electric vehicles *
Do you drive an electric vehicle and want to refuel it with your own solar power using the SMA EV Charger charging solution? In the e-mobility area, you can control your car’s charging process easily and efficiently. You can choose between two charging modes: Forecast-based charging enables charging at minimal cost and with the peace of mind that your vehicle will be ready to go when you need it by configuring a charging target; optimized charging means intelligent charging of the vehicle with self-generated solar power.
Thanks to the SMA Energy app, you can use your self-generated solar power from your SMA Energy System in a highly sustainable manner and optimize your energy budget. The app is your perfect companion for the energy transition at home and the mobility transition on the road.

Ratings and Reviews
Sunnyboy app was much better.
The app that download onto my phone does not look like the app in the pictures. I can’t find any way to add or change information that apparently was migrated over to this app from the Sonnyboy app. I have two arrays and this app only shows one. It gives me no way to see what each individual array is doing. If one of the arrays is not communicating I have no way of knowing which one it is. The Sunny boy app had much more comprehensive information. I think that if the app that downloaded onto my phone worked like the ones in the pictures and example shown online it would be much better.
I wrote Sunnyboy app but meant to say Sunnyportal app. In response to the dev reply using the inverter tab I was able to monitor both inverters. There was a different color line on a graph which showed what each array was doing.
The description of the new app says it has an extended range of functions. Not true on the app that I downloaded. The only thing I can do is look at current and daily total generation, and history. I have checked for updates and have the current version. There are only 2 buttons at the bottom of my app, dashboard and settings. There are 4 in the pictures of this app in the App Store. Maybe there are some extended range of functions in the two missing buttons. Put the old app and this one side by side and compare them, you will see. Honestly I hope you can make this new one better.
Developer Response ,
Hello Bring back Sunnyboy, Thank you for your Feedback and sorry for inconvenience. For live energy flows for two arrays, a Home Manager or Energy Meter is required in the system configuration.
You advice about the pictures, will be forwarded to the dev-team. Sunny regards
Nothing working, nothing displaying/Update: found a fix!
First I don’t want a canned response that the developers are always working to improve the experience, so here are the details: 1. Under “Status,” nothing is displaying… no data just greyed out boxes. 2. Under Today’s generation,” it’s just displaying 2.8 kWh when the web version of Sunny Portal shows 85 kWh. 3. Under”Today’s Energy Balance,” nothing is displaying in the graph. 4. When I open the “History” tab, the page is blank. Build something similar to the app version of Sunny Portal. This one should be dumped. UPDATE: I logged out of the app and deleted it. Redownload the app and logged in. All my data is back and it’s logging energy production. The developers should know this. BUT I’m still keeping rating low (from 1 star to 2). because the app no longer shows equipment monitoring.
Developer Response ,
Hello D&JHH, thank you for providing an update on your feedback. We're glad to hear that you are able to access your data in the app again and we appreciate you sharing your experience with us. We acknowledge the challenges that have emerged since the recent updates to our infrastructure and we apologize for the issues you experienced. Our development team will continue to work on resolving any errors that arose during the migration. Also, we will gladly pass on your suggested solution to other users who may be encountering similar issues with the app. Sunny greetings!
BEWARE - All data gone!
BEWARE!! I had previously set this new app up to work along with Sunny Portal. Both were working fine some time ago - although, I must admit the old Sunny Portal app displayed more data than this new one and I always preferred and used the old one up until now. I signed into Sunny Portal today, first time in a while, to view my solar station’s stats and it said I had to use this one. So, I opened up this app and there was no data anymore. I was instructed to either create an account or transfer data. I tried to transfer, but it would not work. It did not except my credentials. Also data transfer does not appear to work for the PV system that I have; 2 Sunnyboy inverters with each having a Webconnect module (No batteries or Web box). When I entered the name of my system to be imported, it said it was not possible,So it would appear that all my historical data is gone! All I can say is it worked a while ago and now it does not. What am I supposed to do? Just a short update, as I did go into Sunny Portal on my Mac and I was able to see the current data as well as all historical data. So it appears that it is an iOS app issue. This new app needs to be able to import ALL existing Sunny Portal accounts!
