Description
Weather Awareness Service for your Electronic Flight Bag
eWAS provides airline pilots a complete weather situation for their flights. The application presents the last observations and forecasts in an innovative horizontal and vertical view providing a clear 4D view with the time. eWAS data can be used at ground for a better flight preparation and even onboard the aircraft to receive continuous updates during the flight. Thanks to specific integration onboard the aircraft, data can be received by satellite and even by ACARS communication. New data format and compression allow eWAS to uplink forecast with a very limited bandwidth to limit the communication costs. ATC flight plan can be directly requested to the eWAS ground servers or copy paste from the flight folder.
eWAS offers the following weather data:
· Thunderstorm forecast and nowcast
· Clear air turbulence
· Icing
· Volcanic Ash
· Lightning
· SIGMET
· Pireps
· Wind
· Tropopause
· METAR / TAF
· And more data on request.
Highly customizable, the application allows to define an airline policy with various options including the selections of various weather providers. Specific connection to the Airline OCC can also be requested to get for example flight plans and airports.
What’s New
Version 3.8.0
SITA eWAS v3.8.0 contains the following new features:
- Imagery layers now available in SITA eWAS (only under 3D map display).
- Aircraft position recovered in Stations view.
- Enhanced flight route visualization.
- Persist airport filters status.
- Company Areas: GPS Jamming Areas (only for Mission Watch users).
It also contains fixes for known issues:
- Removed edit flight plan option from 3D view. As a limitation of the map library the flight plan cannot be edited when in 3D view.
- Fixed synchronization issue between backup files which provoked multiple devices to have different wind information.
- Fixed wrong aircraft position when changing from GPS to simulated position.
- Fixed an issue in the display of NOTAMs with long text which shortened the message, now the full message is shown.
- Fixed alternate routing is absent after activating the same FP.
- Fixed custom waypoints created in the edit FP view, but the edition icon was not displayed.
Finally some new weather products has been added:
- MeteoFrance AIRMETs are now clearly identified and separated from the SIGMETs.
