I moved recently to an apartment complex that has laundry machines that operate with this app. I was actually happy as it potentially makes your laundry chores so much easier without hassling with coins. Where I lived previously had a similar system that worked well. I promptly downloaded the app and did my first weeks load without a hitch and I charged the app with $20. No problem, I thought as I will be needing to do laundry each week. This week (my second week) I head to the laundry room, load the machine, and oops the app had logged out. I attempted to log in and failed. No problem I will just change the password. When I entered my email address said that it didn’t recognize my account! So they take $20 dollars, lock me out and do not answer the “help” phone and have yet to respond to my email! DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!! And do not load funds more than what you absolutely will use in your laundry day. I hope to be be given reason to change my review to a more positive rating should they decide to return the cash I paid up front. UNFORTUNATELY the building uses these machines and there is NO option to pay with coins. I will be petitioning the management to change to a more serious provider.

I would to add that I WAS contacted by the help service and the problem WAS resolved. I appreciate your help and would like to add that they have proven to me to totally trustworthy. I retract my previous observations. Thank you!

Doing laundry is exactly the highlight of my day so anything that makes the process easier is my new best friend. The app doesn’t take much room on my phone and connecting your payment method is simple. You can load as little as $5 at a time. As long as you can see the number that identifies your washing machine or dryer, you’re good to go. If you scan the machine’s barcode with your phone/camera, you don’t even need to get a square shot of it. Sometimes, though, the little barcode/scanner square gets rubbed off of the machine. In that case you can just type in the number of the machine manually and press start, both on your phone and on the machine itself. Off topic, but I use Siri or Alexa to set a timer so I’m able to get my clothes right when the cycle ends. It would be great if the app could tell you when there were machines open but I guess that would be a whole different story. Thanks for reading this review and kudos to the developers of this app!

I’m sitting in my hotel with a plane to catch. Went to do laundry and it requires this app. So I downloaded and deposited funds and started the wash. When I went do do the drying it was logged out and and would not accept my login or PW. I tried to reset PW repeatedly via email but no email from Shime down ever came in. Funny enough the email confirmation of taking my money came thru immediately. In desperation I went to the front desk who were able to set another machine for me. My laundry is currently drying but I am out the $ that I had deposited and my morning is just screwed up. I hate this app and it feels like I’ve been scammed (at least it was under 25$) Grrrrr, just maddening and all I wanted was to do laundry before heading home.

The company responded to my email and this review and refunded the unused portion of my deposit. I appreciate that they handled this and seemed to care.
Although that shows a professional business practice, the issue remains. I’d highly recommend giving customers the options to still pay with coins or at least a card. Not everyone lives on their phone. And even in my case, the app didn’t recognize me and I was stuck until the hotel rescued me.
