Ratings and Reviews
I appreciate the convenience
I’ve been reading the H-T online for a couple of years mostly without any problems. Sometimes an article is not perfectly duplicated when isolated and enlarged. When that happens, I simply pinch and enlarge the page on my iPad and read it as it was printed originally, which is how I read the comics section. The only disadvantage is not being able to do the crossword and other puzzles.
Very poor
Lately, the app will not connect to the newspaper. There is a bad gateway.
Also, the newspaper has totally shied away from controversy and is now just soft news and right wing opinion pieces.
THE APP HAS IMPROVED. LINKS TO FACEBOOK AND OTHERS NOW WORKS. THE FEATURE ALLOWING YOU TO USE YOUR EMAIL APP ( like Apple Mail) STILL DOES NOT WORK, SO YOU HAVE NO ACCESS TO YOUR CONTACTS OR OTHER FEATURES.
Articles not up to date. News not always up to date. Opinions behind by one or two days. No ability to share, links to Facebook non existent. A sloppy job by the developer leaves the H T looking like. Amateurs Tha app varies in operation daily. One day I can touch to put an article in the reading pane, today I cannot. I cannot get to the articles. The share function is erratic and sporadic. Please, hire IT people who know what they are doing. Your IT people are nasty. When my app was not working, they first blamed me and my computer and my ability. It turned out that the latest upgrade cut out users with older operating systems. But rather than just admit that, they would rather blame the user. The EMail function is not working. This app does more to discourage readers than the newspaper itself!
Local Journalism
We here in Sarasota are fortunate to have a local newspaper primarily dedicated to local news and events. Which the Herald-Tribune does to great success. While not ignoring state and national issues, it does a great job of keeping us locals well informed on the issues that affect us most nearly. From city and county commissions to high school sports everyone will get up to date news on the subjects that matter to all individuals. At a time when local newspapers and journalists are disappearing, Sarasota’s are lucky to still have our hometown “rag.”
