Long time buyer

I’ve been buying ryobi for years and the app is by far the best thing for the company. I can register products without issues and not only that find exact products that match it. This app is a life saver on time and money. I don’t have to search to find a matching product or something that’ll go with that product at Home Depot. I go to the app and click on my registered tool and it shows me what fits it. It’s perfect.

Terrible for registering online Home Depot purchase

I never write reviews. I love my Ryobi tools. Maybe not as sturdy as some other leading brands, but certainly great for an intermediate to advanced DIY-er. My tools have stood up well. However, this Ryobi app experience was inordinately frustrating. After signing over access to my location, and having no functional option to restrict marketing cookies (I could click to opt out but had no submit option, and had to select allow all), I then tried to register a purchase. Sigh. The app would not accept a pdf or photo of the Home Depot online purchase, nor would it let me manually enter data: they say they accept order or receipt number; the online HD statement only has order number; the system, in fact, will not accept order number. Arrgh. The registration was (allegedly) mostly successful, sans receipt. Hmm, I also tried online registration, thinking I shouldn’t have fallen for the “try our spiffy app” suggestion. Online, no better. It doesn’t show the allegedly semi-successful app registration. Hmm. The online registration system accepted the order document — great, this is gonna work— but the system won’t accept my product number. Grrr arrgh. Enough, already. I’ll plan on the tool working just fine, as usual, and hope that I don’t need to rely on registration or the dysfunctional Ryobi app (which I happily deleted).

Hot trash…slightly reskinned web browser that doesn’t work that well.

Do you want to use your fancy RYOBI connected tools…cool hope you’re willing to allow every cookie because our notification will NOT go away…probably on purpose spending thousands on inverters or mowers wasn’t enough we at RYOBI need your data…cuz reasons. Want to browse a specific tool collection haha get wrecked we didn’t even get that right. Want to register a tool well you can scan it now that’s good…if the servers up don’t worry it won’t be because you using your warranty costs us money if you use it. Why is this app rated so high you ask well suspiciously the number of reviews seems to line up relatively closely with the number of tti tool reps…but you judge for yourself. This app is free and I still want my money back.
