Description

The app’s focal point is the map of the iconic public space where the performance will unfold. Audio zones are installed along the route and may overlap at certain points. Winding their way through this public area, participants listen via headphones to a personalized music track that changes according to their positions on the map.

In the performances by RUBBERBANDance Group in Montreal (August 29 to September 10, 2017), through the app, audio tracks linked to the movements of the dancers are superimposed onto the sound environment of the outdoor plaza of Place des Arts. The tracks are transmitted by sensors attached to the dancers’ bodies and are accessible according to the degree of proximity between the dancers and the spectator-participants.

The audio experience is supported by a mapping interface that reveals virtual layers. It is only through this unique tool that participants can access the experience plotted out by the company. It allows them to visualize their positions in real time and discover which part of the audio track they activate when they enter a specific zone.

City Thread creates a personalized soundscape that bridges the real and the virtual.
