Writing and learning
Probably around 15 hours into using this after learning Hiragana on other apps. This app is so customizable, its awesome. I was really looking for something to not only teach me Kanji but also how to write them in the appropriate stroke order. I felt other language learning tools were not making me recall things correctly, i had too many context clues and was cheating myself out of truly learning the material. The spaced repetition also feels perfect, it dings you for errors but you can override it if you just accidentally swiped or were interrupted. I also like that if I am in a hurry I can just review outstandingly items instead of being forced to learn and review.
Highly recommend
This app has many features that make it worthwhile. Various settings allow a user to customize to their needs. One of the options is choosing the book one is studying from. I am using a JLPT book and this app allows me extra practice. The JLPT option in the app is also well fleshed out, going beyond JLPT kanji so that there is over 3000 kanji to study. The other thing I love about this app is the accuracy in tacking my writing. Whether I use my Apple pencil or a finger, the app accurately tracks what I’m writing. The most important thing is that I also want to use the app. The interface is clean and its simplicity encourages me to open it up and study.
More helpful than some paid/freemium apps!
I’ve been trying out various Japanese learning apps over the past few months and this is easily one of my favorites! I’ve already recommended it to a few friends who were attempting to learn thru Duolingo but were still struggling with kana
It gives multiple meanings & example words for each kanji, which is extra helpful for building connections to help memorize. It has several different kinds of repetition to help you gradually learn each kanji. I also love the custom review option cause it means any kanji i learn elsewhere can easily be added to my review rotation
The UI is nothing fancy, but the simplicity makes it super easy to navigate & I never feel overwhelmed by the amount of info on screen.
Also the different faces Ringo-tan makes are so amusing
