Description

The PrimeTimes system, found in four different calendars and explained in its popular book, How to Know When to Go, has been the gold standard of when to go fishing and hunting since 1986.  And its Ultimate PrimeTimes software has been number-one since 2001.  Now as an app, Ultimate PrimeTimes truly is the ultimate in forecasting fish and game activity, as it adjusts to your exact location via GPS.  You also get 23 choices of what you are going after, from bass, walleyes, and offshore…to deer, waterfowl and coyotes. It even fine-tunes to your current fishing conditions, including today's weather and water conditions!  This interactive forecaster is loaded with features and very easy to use. Its data goes back as far as 2005, so you can check its predictions against past outings.

You can try it free with limited features and ads, buy it for only $9.99 a year with no ads and all features, or use it monthly for only $0.99 per month.  Whichever option you choose, you can run it on the internet AND your smartphone, which makes Ultimate PrimeTimes available to virtually everyone.

Best fishing / hunting app in existence

I have been using Rick Taylor’s PrimeTimes fishing and hunting calendar, Pocket Astro Tables, and Ultimate Prime Times PC Software for several years. After I found out they were developing a new App for 2022, I couldn’t wait to try it out. They had a sample on their website and after trying it I was checking every day until I could order it. I purchased it and it is absolutely awesome. Once you put in your fishing location, fish species, water temp, water clarity, etc., the App will show you the solar and lunar periods in an awesome graphic representation that makes it easy to see the best times to go. It’s great to be able to have it on your mobile device. I’m sure I’ll be a regular customer for it as well. Thank!

It’s cheap so…

This is a very generalized review. No app is going to predict success, so let me provide valuable feedback. The option to only use the app sideways is annoying to put it nicely. There isn’t a ton of data presented when selecting deer as game. It basically gives you ratings on the day, which is always highest on the full moon? When selecting an area, it doesn’t matter if you zoom in it seems, and you can’t click the map to say, select a WMA. Also, scrolling on the map is very glitchy. When looking at best days data, based on where you leave from month calendar, currently it gives me till 12 November, or 30 November into December. I can’t actually view the days I’m hunting, which starts 18 November. Premium membership was $10 for the year, so I’m not spun up over it, but I don’t think I’ll be a returning customer is all.

Know Before You Go

I’ve been using Rick Taylor’s Prime Times Calendar now for about 10 years. I’ve found them to be highly accurate for my target quarry (primarily bass, halibut, black bears and deer). As with many of us I’ve found I have an unfortunately busy schedule that has limited my time in the field. With Prime Times I’m able to confidently schedule hunting trips months in advance. In 2021 I scheduled a 3 day Alaska fishing trip using Prime Times with 5 of my close friends and family 6 months in advance. When the time cam around (August 7,8 and 9) we brought home 360 pounds of fish! And yes we ate a bunch while we were in Alaska!
