I like it. Work on Cheap Weekly Passes and Monthly Passes
I like the Day-Pass. Can there be cheaper Weekly Passes? $10 Week Passes? And why aren’t Honorable War Veterans treated the same on the Free Pass? But for functionality and use of the app, 5-Star. Buses should run 24-hours for “Night Workers”. Many of those Night Workers are in the food industry, low level security guards, and servers who cannot afford Uber/Lyft after the 2am bus leaves. That is 2am to 6am is also can reduce local drunk drivers and reduce traffic in the city, which is the Primary Goal of the METRO. The app is solid, so “5/5” Stars, but it is dependant on phone intenet, so a lost phone or powerout, then simply pay cash at the bus (redundacy is good and outside of the scope of the app). Houston is a 24/7 Mega Metropolis City with millions of passange, so treats a year, so keep them buses running and clean.
Developer Response ,
Hi, El Author. Thank you for your positive feedback. We're happy to provide free services to qualified veterans. You can find information about METRO Veterans Pass online at www.ridemetro.org/fares/discounted-and-free-programs#qualifiedVeterans. Thank you for riding METRO.
Looks great so far
Great-looking new app. Registration was quick. Nice to see Pay as ticket purchase payment option now. (But to be really up to date Metro needs to update the bus readers to take mobile payments directly, no app required... maybe some day!)
For the reviewer who complained about being unable to login with their old account and losing their previously purchased tickets, please read the instructions! You have to register for a new account on this app and, if you use the same email address as your old account and you have some tickets remaining in your old account, those tickets will get transferred to your new account (and the new app) some time in August. RTFM.
Developer Response ,
Thank you, marchetype. And thank you for riding METRO.
Downloaded “new” app, but new tickets disappeared
After I downloaded the new app and bought new tickets; a bug in your new app set off a continuous loop that forced me to download the new app countless more times. In other words, it didn’t seem to recognize that I had already downloaded the new app. Then it deleted all my new tickets—that I had just purchased using the new app—and before I even had a chance to use any of the new tickets and the new app said I had 0 tickets after it displayed all the tickets purchased on the new app but then it deleted all the new tickets minutes later when it forced me to delete and download the new app...again and again and again.
Tell your IT developers to fix the new app and all these bugs and next time TEST the app using basic use processes and test using an iPhone 7 Plus.
Also, Under no circumstances should an upgrade to an app, delete all the existing purchases. That would be like deleting everybody’s cash every time you upgrade a bank software to the next release. Or it’d be like deleting all files and photos and apps on a computer every time someone downloads a new update. That is bad programming and unacceptable software upgrade process .
Train your software development , testing and QA staff , fix these bugs, and refund all my tickets that your buggy new software has deleted.
Developer Response ,
Thank you for the comment and for riding METRO. The app was tested extensively before release, so we'd like to understand what has caused the issue you experienced. Because the new app was developed by a different company, all users had to register for a new account. If you have unused tickets on the previous app, you can continue using them on that app through the end of this month. If you still have unused tickets at that time, they'll be transferred to your account on the new app, provided you registered on the new app with the same email address you had used to register on the previous one. Once the tickets have been transferred, you'll be notified via email. If you're continuing to experience issues, please contact METRO Customer Service at 713-635-4000 so they can assist with trying to resolve them for you.
