Description

Punkt is the German word for punctuation mark. Punkt makes journaling secure, private, easy and fun. But the best of starting a journal now is that you become a happier person.

Here's what makes Punkt special:

* EASY TO USE *
Punkt's focus is on a simple design. Your stories are the most important part of the app, so why should we distract you with any other complicated stuff?

* SECURE AND PRIVATE *
Punkt saves your stories on your local device and in your private iCloud. No one but you can read your stories. You can also protect your stories with Face ID or Touch ID.

* NO LOGIN, NO ADS *
Punkt works without sharing any personally identifiable information. The app is focused on simplicity and privacy. There is no login, no Facebook or Google SDKs, no analytics tracking, no server connection. Everything you do in Punkt is truly private and secure.

* ACCESSIBILITY *
Punkt supports dynamic type, voice-over and voice control. It is designed to be used by everyone. I would welcome any feedback regarding accessibility as this is truly important to me.

* FAIR PRICING *
Punkt is developed just by one developer, therefore I want to make really fair and transparent pricing. If Punkt makes you just a little bit happier, you can help to contribute that the app stays independent and does not need to display ads or require personal data.

---------------

Why did I start building this app? I'm a startup founder myself and I've been through very rough but also hyper exciting and happy times. That's tough by itself, but if one of your loved ones is helpless in pain and suffers then your world stops spinning. Bad times in business and private life made me think about how I can get out of this and become more positive and happier in the end. I've researched a lot and came across the one-sentence journaling technique. Long story short, I've started tracking my days in a Google Sheet. With just a few clicks I could make myself smile again by reading stories about happy days. But also the other way round, looking at rough times makes you appreciate even more what you have in your life. Now I want to help other people with this app.

daily motivation

I love this app, but ever since I downloaded it the daily motivation hasn't loaded. This was one of the things I was looking forward to in the app and to see that it hasn't worked makes me kind of sad. Overall though it's a really good app. It helps to reflect on myself and I like that I can look back to see my previous entries. I also like how you can see a graph to compare previous days. The reason I don't give it five stars is because of this motivation thing. If I find a way to get it to fix then I'll rewrite this and give it five stars! Developers, if you see this please respond and tell me how to fix this. It would really make this whole app feel complete!UPDATE!! they got back to me, thanks so much!!

Hey, happy new year and many thanks for your feedback! There was a little date specific mix up and motivational quotes were not loaded correctly. I've already submitted an update (1.1.7) which will fix this problem and quotes will show up again.

Thank you very much for reporting this problem!

The journaling app I’ve been wanting

I’ve been wanting to get into journaling for years but with little time available I wanted a journaling app that was more about how I felt and quick notes of the overall feelings rather than long meditations. This app is a dream for that, like I would have designed it for myself.

The how you felt and why quick options are a genius idea. Two taps and you have a picture of that day, genius!

I have a couple of suggestions: ability to set journaling intervals: not just daily but weekly or monthly. Also improvements on the graph view, see the bigger picture throughout the years and things like that. Also I would change the typography, but that’s just my taste.

Other than that this is THE JOURNALING APP I’ve been looking for since forever.

No accounts, no logins, no BS. Honest to god developers doing good things. I gladly upgraded to premium, the price is super reasonable.

If you want to get into journaling quick and easy, this app is the way to go. Keep up the good work guys.

Great simple journal but no iCloud support

I am really enjoying how simply this app treats journalling. However, one of the things it promises is iCloud support. I don't see any reference to iCloud support in the app nor does it seem to save anything to my iCloud. I would like to be able to sync it to Punkt on my iPad soI can write about my day regardless of whether I have my phone or my iPad handy. Another thing is the name of the app. Not a fan. It always makes me think of the "Punk'd" show from years ago. I kinda feel like I'm being Punk'd using the app because it promises iCloud support but it's nowhere to be found. Why use a journaling app with no cloud back up? Kinda scary. Also, on the iPad app, the interface to go premium doesn’t work. At least it doesn’t on my iPad Mini 5. Restore purchases doesn’t work on the iPad either :(

Developer Response ,

Hey nichollspete, many thanks for your review. I'm really glad that you like the simplicity of the app. The name "Punkt" is a German word and relates to punctuation mark. I agree, that it sounds similar to Punk'd. Thanks for pointing that out. The app should actually sync to your personal and private iCloud container seamlessly. As you are already signed in with your Apple ID on your device there is no need for a login or whatsoever. I'm very happy to help you investigating that issue, you can contact me anytime on Twitter (@punktapp) or by email: gregorpich@gmail.com

All the best!
