Introduction:
The Piano Partner 2 app provides a friendly, interactive way to help you learn and enjoy music with your Roland digital piano. Songs and DigiScore Lite show the piano’s internal music collection on your device’s display, while Rhythm and Flash Card allow you to build skills with intelligent accompaniment and engaging music exercises. Piano Partner 2 also enables your iPad/iPhone to work as a remote controller for your Roland piano, offering an intuitive graphic interface for even easier operation.
Recorder and Diary functions help you progress more quickly, allowing you to evaluate performances and keep track of your daily practice activities. The Diary logs stats about playing time, which keys you played, and more, and it’s even possible to share them with your family, friends, and teachers directly from the app. To use Piano Partner 2, connect your device and a compatible Roland piano wirelessly via Bluetooth®, or wired with a USB cable.
-Songs—browse and select music from your Roland digital piano’s onboard song library
-DigiScore Lite—display music notation for the onboard songs
-Rhythm—develop your sense of rhythm with accompaniment that follows the chords you play
-Flash Card game—fun challenges to develop ear-training and note-reading skills
-Remote Controller—control Roland digital piano functions from your mobile device
-Recorder—capture daily performances and listen back instantly
-Diary—track your daily activities and share progress statistics on social media such as Twitter
-Profiles—multiple users can track individual Diary data on one device

Ratings and Reviews
Practice diary is worthless
I want to like this app but syncing practice sessions still crashes the app despite saying it’s been fixed. As long as I don’t try to sync across devices the practice diary does the job but turning sync on will crash the app every time.
The metronome also needs work. I should be able to switch off the metronome screen and maintain time signature but doing so, even going to the diary, reverts to ¾ time at 132 beats per minute.
The other controls for the piano are acceptable but the two things mentioned above really diminish the utility of the app.
Roland should be embarrassed
What a buggy, useless, and lazy app. It seems as though Roland hired a third-party contractor to make this app solely so they could check off the “we have an app” box.
The app is super buggy and prone to constant freezing and crashing. If only this was the worst of its problems.
This app’s biggest problem is that it doesn’t do anything useful. And to add insult to injury, it comes tantalizingly close to what the app’s users obviously want. For example, the app lets you record what you play on the piano. Neat, right? Nope. You can’t export or share the audio recording. You can only listen to it in the app. And when you play it, it can only be heard through the piano’s headphones or speakers. This is mind-boggling dumb. Thankfully, you probably won’t have to deal with this annoyance because the app will likely crash halfway through recording.
Each time I open the app, I have to pair the piano with it as if the app has never before connected to it.
The interface looks like it was designed for the iPhone 3G and they couldn’t be bothered to update it any time in the ensuing fourteen years.
I could go on and on, but I’ll stop here before I have an aneurysm.
This app is a raging dumpster fire. Roland should be embarrassed.
Buggy mess
Oh my goodness this app is borderline unusable. There has been a bug in this app for over a YEAR where if you tap the + button on the transpose scale, it will stay activated transpose the maximum number of half steps upwards. The “recorder” page is immanently broken. I literally could not leave this page. None of the buttons did anything. Had to close the app to escape. Also split piano is worthless- you can’t sustain the left split, the sustain only works for the right split! What’s the point???
Seriously Roland please do better. Please try. Please pretend to care. This is literally more frustrating and harmful than helpful. Just don’t offer an app if you’re gonna give it out to contractors for the lowest possible price and market your piano as having app integrations. This ain’t it.
