It works but lacks features

I’ve been looking for a solution to sync my photos from my iPhone to my NAS. Connecting to my NAS was confusing and lacked support. I kept receiving an error but there wasn’t any help in the app to resolve the connection issue. There was no option to search for my NAS.

The options for the backup offer lots of options and good descriptions.

The reason for three starts is the inability to operate in the background even for a very short period while I switch screens, sometimes I would come back and have to start the backup again from where it left off. You have to leave the program on your screen running. I have 24k photos to backup. It has taken three days and I still have 6k photos left. I’ve tried to backup overnight but it seems to stop at some point. I run it every chance I get.

Also, what happens when I have new photos or photos move around? From what I understand, I will have to backup again if I want to keep everything in the right folders, if anything has moved. There is no sync option.

I feel the app could be great but currently is just ok. It needs further development and features. It does what it says but it’s a lot of work and you will have to continue to manually manage it since it does not seem to backup on its own.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your feedback, it is helpful for us to further improve the app. Third-party apps have a limited time to run in the background, please back up all your photos in the foreground first (as noted in the description of the app). Please go to “Options > Automatic Backup” of the app for more information.

Excellent - but need help troubleshooting!

I bought three copies of this - for mine, my wife’s and my daughters phones. We take most of our pictures now with our phones. The initial backup worked perfect with my phone and my wife’s - and my daughter got about 1/3 way through - and it gives an error that says invalid path. How do I troubleshoot this?! Hoping the developer sees this - the blogspot website has no “contact me” button.

Why strip the metadata?

UPDATE: So I got a notice from the developer saying that the metadata are now preserved during the transfer of photos from the phone to the NAS. Yay!, I thought. Unfortunately, after a few tests, I see that some metadata are preserved, but not all. Most notably, the location data is NOT preserved. PLEASE DEVELOPER, can you preserve ALL metadata?

Also, I also noticed that the wireless transfer of files resulted in smaller file sizes using this app compared to the same photos that I uploaded to the NAS via lighting cable. Is the app maintaining the full resolution of the photos as it claims? I don’t know.

=====================
Previous review:

I’ve done my array of tests and this is a great app, BUT IT LACKS AN ESSENTIAL FEATURE. The app appears to indeed transfer full resolution of pictures and videos BUT IT DOES NOT TRANSFER THE METADATA. This makes the app unusable to me. So please, include the ability to transfer ALL metadata with the full resolution pictures and videos! Thank you in advance.

Developer Response ,

We didn't find the losing metadata problem after extensively tested latest update of the app. Please contact us via Support email of the app if you're still having problem.
Thank you for your feedback.
