Coupons, shopping list, recipes in ONE app

This is an amazing application that does more than increase savings. It has recipes and shopping features that save tons of time and money!! I love the recipes menu which list ingredients that can be added to a shopping list with one tap! The shopping lists can be saved/updated and shared by household members too! As another reviewer mentioned the “lidl games” are fantastic! You can earn up to 2 rewards a month-this month I received both rewards: 30% off beverages and 20% off vegetables and fruit (which I used for a salad bar luncheon at work). My all time fave is the “specials” tab, one press and it displays options to view current and upcoming specials (these items include things like sewing machines, bread makers, air loungers, trendy clothing, etc.). I literally live for Wednesday’s (when Lidl updates the “specials” list). If you are a Lidl lover but don’t have this app you’re totally missing out!!!

Not happy with your service and I am letting everyone know

Lidl Hazlet, NJ
Today when I was in Lidl, the manager told everyone you could not use the register to check out with a person. You had to use the self check out for all credit cards. The one person register was for cash only. So this is new, because I never use self checkout. So I said to the manager in front of the crowded check out lines. So if I don’t use cash I have to go to self check out? He said Yes, I said OK, I had a full cart. I started taking stuff out and putting it on the side in order to get to my shopping bags and my pocketbook out, and said ok here you go. He came running up to me and said no, no. You can use your credit card. All of a sudden he changed his mind after trying to force people to use self checkout. It only took one person to say no. A lot of the people on self checkout moved over to the checkout with a person doing the checkout. That was originally told to go to self checkout because he said this is the cash only line. If you want my business do not tell me I have to use self checkout in order to use my credit card! Stand up for what you believe in. I am not your employee and you are not paying me to self check out. It’s bad enough that you have gotten away with us bringing in our own bags, but you can buy their bags. And then having us bagging are own stuff.

Recent app changes were a large step backward

Previously, all of the discounts, coupons, etc. were in one place within the app. It was a simple matter to see what was on sale, what discounts one had access to, etc. Now, much of that information has been split off to another section of the app (My Lidl Deals). What used to be a quick, convenient list of one’s discounts for the week (as well as one’s own coupons for, say, making three $20 purchases, or hitting a $100 purchase milestone for the month) now requires going through two different lists and “clipping” discounts/coupons (which is a ridiculous and needless process within an app—no one wants to spend their time doing that). This new My Lidl Deals section also requires clicking through list after list to see each discount, some of which include redundant items (i.e., included on more than one list). One of Lidl’s strengths has been its app-based discounts. Changing that system to be more time-intensive, repetitive, and convoluted is not a plus for the consumer—particularly when, say, Aldi and others offer an easier, cleaner, and more intelligent experience. All change is not progress, Lidl. The recent changes make for a bizarre and nonsensical step backward—one that has me relying on both the Lidl app and their stores less than in the past.
