Description
We live in a world where an increasing number of people lead sedentary lives. The modern way we work, access food, socialize, and entertain ourselves can all be accomplished from the comfort of our homes.
However, this lifestyle shift has led to a significant rise in chronic diseases. Obesity, mental health issues, diabetes, sleep disorders, and more are diagnosed more frequently than ever before.
Our advanced medical system, which has been managing these issues, is now overwhelmed. If this trend continues, it threatens to reduce our average life expectancy.
Currently, people take an average of fewer than 4,000 steps per day, which is insufficient. Medical professionals and scientists often liken our lack of movement to the 'new tobacco' or 'the silent killer.'
But there's hope: recent studies reveal that taking 8,000 steps per day can reduce the risk of early mortality by 50% compared to 4,000 steps. Additionally, these studies demonstrate that the adverse effects of inactivity on our bodies can be reversed in just two years.
This transformation doesn't demand a gym membership or running a half marathon. All it requires is that we move more. So, let's come together to move more with our friends and reverse the sedentary trend.
Move uses HealthKit data calculate your step count. The app will require read-only permissions for step data during onboarding.

Ratings and Reviews
My new favorite step counter! 🥰
I have been searching for a good activity tracker to use with my friends and family. I think I found it! I love that I can see emojis of people I invited on my step bar. That’s so cool and creative. Also love the clap feature! But my favorite has to be the step bar on my Apple Watch face. I just love looking at it! It’s the pedometer that I always wanted!
One request I have is to add my friends to my widget. The app is already amazing but this would make it even better for me! Thank you! 😊
Best social step counter for walking
I’ve tried a lot of step tracker apps and I really liked this one. I was able to add my friends so that we can hold each other accountable. I get little notifications when people are “on the move” and can send encouragement back.
The app also has a Apple Watch complication which allows me to see my step count right on the watch face. This keeps me on track and helps me achieve my goal for the day.
Good motivator to walk
I had not been walking in a long time and had quit using step counters.
I started using Move and followed the direction to add it as a widget. That was a key feature because now as I use my phone I see the widget for Move updating with my step count and I’m trying to reach my daily goal (which is quite modest right now).
So now I am going for a walk most days and when I don’t I realize how little I am moving throughout the day.
