Description

This is the Online Homework app for MLP Chinese curriculum. MLP Chinese curriculum is designed for children of Chinese immigrants who are learning Mandarin Chinese as a heritage language. The online homework component is designed to be a part of a complete curriculum set including textbook, workbooks, and vocab cards, and not as a standalone Chinese learning app.

Buggy, hard to understand sometimes

This is, well questionable. I haven’t had extreme lag/crash issues, but the app has its fair share of bugs.

1: Different/quiet/unintelligible voices when announcing.
- Different voices reading some of the words
- Very quiet sometimes
- Some slurred text that you need to listen to twice
2. Ridiculous games.
Games are a fun way to practice Chinese while having some fun. I do like how not all game visuals are copy pasted, but the concepts are very if not the same throughout grades.
- Even when you get a VERY high score with no problems wrong, the game will assign you 2.5 stars. This is a very annoying mechanic, say you need 2 games with 3 stars each to progress.
- Some of the games are ridiculously hard, as sometimes with problem 1 combined with games leads to you either needing to get help or spend a long time doing so again.
3. Bugs I have encountered
- When going to home from a game, the app will show a black screen with a white background. This bug happens between versions.
- Levels not loading in when clicked on.
- Very strange character requirement mechanic, sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t.
- Video does not let me adjust time.
4. Some positives
- Good idea, I love the game concept and video concept too.
- Helps you practice your Chinese

Too glitchy

When I go and assign for a new semester the doors sometimes have stars in them and that bothers me a lot because it’s disorganized and I’m an organized person. Also when I go to buy something the coins go down but then I don’t get the thing I bought. Another disorganized thing is that they don’t treat the coins like coins, they keep the coins you got in one season only in that season, so it’s frustrating when I run out of coins in one season so now I have so buy in another season

My Honest Opinion

(Disclaimer: All Of This Is Just My Honest Opinion) Basically for the person who said, “ You have to pay for the videos,” that’s only for the 1st graders. Second, I have to somewhat agree on the disorganized stuff but like I feel like the more you’re older, the more you don’t care but I can see what you’re saying there. Third, sometimes it glitches on the app blah blah. For example when you’re done recording and click the button that says “ Continue,” it might not let you click it and another example is when you’re done listening to the story and sometimes it doesn’t let you go on and I get it, it’s annoying. In conclusion, this is my honest opinion about mlp hw homework app.

PS: this might be boring but when you’re in 5th or 6th grade for Chinese school, you get more better videos! Oh and I personally don’t like the paper writing but who cares? But by the way, focus during learning or else the teacher might send a text saying that you need to improve.

Signing Off,
A 6th grader From The Chinese School!
