Description
This app provides a list of roots, suffixes, and prefixes, which are derived from ancient Greek or classical Latin used in medical terminology.
Having knowledge of medical roots, prefixes and suffixes will help you to easily understand and remember medical terms.
▪ Some examples of how roots, prefixes and suffixes combine to form a medical term
arthr- + -o- + logy = arthrology
arthr- + itis = arthritis
eryth- +o+ cyte = erythrocyte
■ There are a few general rules about how they combine
- The -o- almost always acts as a joint-stem to connect two consonantal roots.
- The -o- is dropped when connecting to a vowel-stem
- Medical roots generally go together according to language, i.e., Greek prefixes occur with Greek suffixes and Latin prefixes with Latin suffixes

Ratings and Reviews
Solid app but broken features
Content is thorough and easy-to-read design. I downloaded for supplementing my 1st year medical school anatomy course, and it’s exactly what I was looking for. Roots/prefixes/suffixes are organized with their meaning, and they also hyperlink you to medically relevant words upon clicking on the word element.
Only downside I’ve encountered so far is the broken search feature (which is why I gave 4 stars), though the app is still easy to navigate with alphabetized content. Likely just needs a quick update to fix, since the current version is over a year old...
Needs work
Small bank of words, and search function doesn’t always work
