WHAT KIDS LEARN

For Early Talkers:
High interest word buttons are great for exploring and learning new words! Kids can create their own phrases using simple opposites which leads to great learning.

For Early Readers:
Kids learn to read and use high interest nouns and simple action words to create their own phrases. You can support your child’s reading by talking about the letters and letter sounds when reading the words together.

For Late Talkers:
Just like speech therapy, we target high interest nouns and action words to encourage kids to practice speech and play with the words in different 2 and 3 word phrases combinations.
This is especially useful for kids with apraxia, and motor planning difficulties.

For Non Verbal Kids:
Some kids can communicate more easily using an AAC app, Cars & Bugs has been designed to be used as a First-Steps AAC to help kids learn to communicate using a device.

Adorable and Educational

The art and animation for all the different animals and vehicles makes for an engaging and entertaining interactive learning experience. Kids can practice building short phrases without getting overwhelmed, and I particularly liked that there are so many little critters to discover and unlock. This is a great app for any kid that benefits from a visual aid when it comes to speech therapy, but especially considerate of those who may be on the spectrum or have other learning disabilities.

EDIT: The Spring ‘world’ is my new favorite, and perfect for color learning. I’m excited to see what new expansions come out next!

Developer Response ,

Hi Caitlyn — thanks so much for taking the time to review our app! 🤩 We're delighted that you enjoyed the art style and animation.

Our goal is to make the language learning experience fun and engaging for kids, so I'm glad you were able to discover all the little things around the play scenes.

Many thanks for your time and feedback,

An SLPs Dream App

I am a Speech and Language Pathologist who works with a lot of kiddos who are just learning basic communication skills. This app is amazing! It has been so engaging for my students! I’ve used it primarily with my kiddos on the spectrum and my AAC users. I’ve been able to target basic concepts and core words (e.g., go, stop, on, under, up, down) as well as helping to increase MLU (e.g., go up the hill, green flower, boat go under the bridge). I would HIGHLY recommend this app and hope they develop more apps like it!!

Developer Response ,

Hello, and thank you so much for your review. We originally created this app for our daughter with this in mind, so it truly does mean a lot to us to read such a fantastic response. We strongly believe there is a huge potential to expand how assisted communication can be expanded, and we wanted to blend the parts of AAC into something that is also fun and enjoyable for kids to practice speech. Thank you for taking the time to illustrate the parts of the app that have been useful to you as an SLP, that was absolutely amazing to read.

We are currently working on extending this app and have plans to develop more. If you're interested, we would love to get feedback from an SLP perspective! (We can be contacted directly at db@keakidsgames.com)

Upcoming changes are for customizing what Claire says when you tap her, this will allow an SLP (or parent) to choose what phrases she will say, and a fun new food scene that targets verbs plus food vocab.
