JustChords 4+

This is just perfect how it is. Works with the air turn pedal. Scrapes existing chord sites. Able to edit, hide chords, transpose… basically anything a professional bar/restaurant musician could ever need. And it’s free. I downloaded. I donated. I use it at every gig. I can’t remember the last time I ever made a voluntary donation without being prompted for one. I literally went looking for a way to pay something for this. Absolutely wonderful, better than the expensive subscription apps by far. Just try it. You have literally nothing to lose. The only thing I wish I could figure out how to do is flip to the next song in the setlist without touching my iPad and instead using a Bluetooth pedal. For all I know it does, but I haven’t figured it out yet. Might just need a better pedal than the airturn pedpro. Can’t be happier with this app.

I’m really really impressed so far, and I’ll write more after I’ve had a chance to actually use this for playing live. The old-school process was to print out a bunch of songs with the lyrics and chords, put them in a binder, and put the binder on a music stand. This app allows you to do that, and much more…but the most important thing is, it needs to do the basics well: allow you to organize and flip through songs using your iPad as a virtual 3-ring binder. I think some of the other apps have lost sight of that fundamental need. This app seems to do it very well.

I’ve been disappointed with Ultimate Guitar (which I pay for) and a every other app that I’ve tried. I started developing my own app but this already has all the things a musician would need like the ability to easily search for and import chord pro formatted songs, edit lyrics and chords, organize set lists and my favorite feature, airplay projection (I use an external monitor). The only additional feature that I might use is a web based editor but even without it, I would still pay for this app.
