Usually works, but could be much better

The app has an annoying sign out behavior where if you open the app, but don’t interact with it for a period of time, it signs you out. The only way to regain access is to force quit the app switcher or input login credentials. This seems like unintended behavior.

The app also does not support locking or unlocking doors With Siri or shortcuts. Given that scene currently already integrate with Siri and Shortcuts, it doesn’t seem that hard to extend it to include door locks.

Made for the elderly?

The app works, but WOW is everything so abstract and overly complex. Both the old and new version. Really you just want to perform sequences of actions, some of which are recurring, but the app uses strange terms like “routines”, “stories”, and “scenes”. What is the point of using confusing language like this? I asked my girlfriend if she could tell me what any of those meant in the app and she had no clue. Just call things what they are instead of using confusing abstractions targeted at god knows who. Also 70% of the app is pointless filler area with stock photos of a woman smiling or useless text like “Welcome Home”. The app really just needs to be completely redesigned from the ground up to actually focus on what it’s designed to do instead of a bunch of meaningless nonsense.

Edit: I’ve changed my review from 2 stars to 1 star. This app is almost useless. There’s been an update or two since my last review, and none of the issues have been resolved. I also recently changed my WiFi, and the app will not let me connect back because every 2 seconds I get “an error occurred” that takes up the whole screen.

The purpose of the app is very convenient and useful. However, the app itself performs very poorly.

When I open the app, it shows me how the apartment was set up the *last* time I opened the app. So it may say it’s set to 76 degrees in the apartment when it’s actually set to 72. So I have to open the app, close it, and open it again so I can see what the current settings are at, change the temp, close the app, open it again to make sure it went through, and then if not then I gotta close and open it *again*, and... I think you get the picture.

I wouldn’t use this app if my apartment complex hadn’t made this the only app that is compatible with the apartment.
