No more Yelping!
Yelp is finally becoming a thing of the past with the invention of this new app! Gone are the days of tirelessly reading through unhelpful reviews, looking at dark pictures, and still getting no where. Now, you can read through concise and trustworthy recommendations from friends, family, food influencers, and even celebrities! Getting all of my friends on this ASAP!
Needs some work
I always like these apps, and I don’t think there are enough alternatives to Yelp.
There are a couple problems with this app, however. I do know that this app just came out, so some bugs are to be expected.
First issue: if I decline location information to the app, and then press on the location icon in the menu bar, I am dropped off at 0.0.0.0, which is off the coast of Africa!
When I download an app for the first time I always decline location permissions. I expect that if I decline location access, and then try to access a location part of the app, that I will receive a prompt that explains what is going on, and will take me to settings on the device.
Second issue: I sign up for the app using Instagram credentials. The sign-up Instagram authorization page was odd - I couldn’t dismiss it, and had to manually restart the app.
Third Issue: cancelling out of Facebook account creation provided an odd message. Cancelling out of Facebook account creation gave me an alert string about the Facebook SDK.
Fourth Issue: No links to terms of service or privacy policy from the account creation screen. There was a sentence at the bottom of this screen that sure looked like there should have been working links - when there were none.
Yelp is broken. This app is the future!
Finally a platform where you can find relevant restaraunt reviews from your friends that share similar tastes. Next time you visit a new city skip Sally from Wisconsin’s Yelp review and check out this app to see your filtered networks favorites.
