Description

Includes Feast Test Part 2 Simulation.

Headings is the most realistic Air Trafic Control (ATC) radar simulator and trainer for iPhone and iPad you will find. From complete newbie to seasoned ATCO, there is a mode for you. Learn about ATC techniques and tools such as vectoring, speed control, QDMs, aircraft performance and more. Also includes a Eurocontrol FEAST-II part 2 training mode so you can train estimating headings just by sight while also constantly shifting focus to different aircraft. (what we call scanning and is an essential skill for these kinds of tests) Acquire and hone new skills, then compete for the top spot on the leaderboard to see if you can beat real Air Traffic Control Officers (ATCOs). Scenarios currently include Dubai International, JFK (New York), Heathrow (London), Zaventem (Brussels), Schiphol (Amsterdam) and Rome (Fiumicino) featuring actual aircraft callsigns and types from those locations. Or choose your custom runway direction you'd like to train on. 6 difficulty levels per scenario allow you to really become accustomed to the airspace and also focus training on a certain type of traffic. Extreme traffic modes make you experience the true at the top of focus/edge of drowning feeling just like real traffic does. For valid ATCOs, please add your 4-letter Unit identifier in your gamecenter name to show up in the leaderboards with your unit. This is version one of a one-man project. Love the job so much that I decided to make my own training/refreshing/game tool to enjoy during off days :-) Ad-free for life hence the initial one-time purchase. If you have any questions, suggestions, comments or requests for new airports/airspaces please send me an email at headingsatc@icloud.com. Screen size of the iPhone currently limits some airspace possiblities. In the works: iPad version with advanced Pencil support, and due to bigger screen size: much bigger airspace which is GPS accurate, etc. Of course that will be free for those who support this version. Thank you and regards, N.

What’s New

Version 1.3.3

A small update with:
Improved selection of labels. (With lots of aircraft labels next to each other it is now more precise to select the correct one, especially handy with busy multiple runways)
Added sounds to the simulator so you don't miss new aircraft or events when letting it run in the background. (Beta, defaults to off, follows device mute status when on)
Added a settings menu (currently only to toggle sounds on/off)

Best of the bunch when it comes to radar ATC games

This seems to be the best one I have tried. I would love to see SID/STAR incorporation with descend and climb via clearances. More intersections to aid in vectoring. More airports with intersecting landing runway operations. One thing I don’t like is the random generation in the very beginning. The aircraft should generate from a waypoint handoff. Otherwise a great trainer/game from a one man team.

Added the 5th star because the developer cares about his product and communicates to the custome. Bravo :-)

Developer Response ,

Hi Metalpilot,

Thank you for the kind review and suggestions!

SID/STAR would definitely be possible, working on a way to show bigger airspace in a user-friendly way for that. Perhaps iPad only at first.

You’re right, the starting aircraft positions were a relic of early testing.. I’ve moved these to the waypoint handoffs now which is much better :) (v1.3 out now)

Regards,

N.

Edit: thank you!! :D

Eriptron ,

Developer is both nice and efficient! :-)

After the developer saw my review and contacted me in a matter of days.

He fixed the iOS zoom setting issue and now I can see the exit points. :-)

On my iPhone 12, the speed settings are too fast, x50 is more like an arcade. I suggested something like; c1, x4, x7, x10 instead. As is, I leave it on x1 just put it down for a while. I think I heard a real air traffic controller collapse on the floor. 8-)

Developer Response ,

Hey Eriptron!

Thanks again for the quick replies with the info I needed!

I’ve just added 3x speed as an option. Hopefully not too many have collapsed yet ;)
