Gronda: Recipes for Chefs 4+

Good concept. Very smooth and sensible displays. Needs a little work

Overall I find this app to be very helpful in connecting me to chefs that I typically would never know of or meet. It is definitely a great medium to learn more of the inside of the high end restaurant world. The masterclasses are good in novelty but are not these end all be all resources for how to do everything they are teaching you. It’s an idea and then a short application for it. I do fine with them but I think a less experienced chef may struggle a bit. For the problems. Some recipes are supposed to be written with the ingredient amounts. The way the instructions are written you can tell they should be posted and a while back every pro recipe had the ingredient list. I no longer see any of the ingredient lists on any recipes. Once I tried to see if family sharing of the app worked. I went to log out and when I went to use my Apple account to log back in (the way I created the account) I couldn’t log in I reached out to customer service and there was no way of tracking my Apple ID or my email address back to my account. This isn’t a huge problem because customer service was prompt in helping me get a new account via email address (which they have a record of) and reactivating my Gronda pro for me. My only down side is now I can’t verify my Gronda pro account. I have overall had a good experience, but they definitely need to work some kinks out.

A+++ Content B- Delivery

Gronda has excellent content from extremely talented chefs. However some of the features are buggy and UX is not as intuitive as it could be. My main gripes are that it’s really difficult to watch the masterclasses because there’s no easy way to save the class to your library and continue where you left off. The video quality during streaming is also poor and the audio often goes mute if you put the app in the background and then reopen it.
I also think the app is trying to do too many things at once. Originally it seemed like Instagram for recipes, but it’s also kind of like a LinkedIn for chefs and a Masterclass and Pinterest for products. Those are all great ideas on their own but maybe too much for one app to do successfully. In my opinion they should focus on being a really great learning resource for chefs and nail the Instagram for recipes/masterclass portion rather than trying to also be LinkedIn for chefs, but maybe their professional chefs feel differently and want a way to be discovered. I am a home cook just trying to learn so all those features are just white noise to me. Overall the app has a ton of great content and ideas but doesn’t really excel in usability. I think the app could benefit from listening to its users and polishing its core features and UX

Laggy & crashes phone

Please god fix this horribly optimized app! After 10 minutes on it or so it starts to lag horribly and freeze to the point where I can’t even swipe up to go to my Home Screen (iPhone) or change apps, and when I can do that, it takes 5-10 seconds to register, then lags horribly when I’m trying to click on another app or swipe up to close this app. Often times if I try and turn my phone on standby (click power button once) it will sit there frozen not working and then all of a sudden crash, multiple actions flash across my screen at once, and the phone goes on standby. I have fully updated everything. It’s a cool app but my god fire your developers for iPhone please!
