Description
Lost something? It's probably on this app.
'FoundIt' was born out of the realization of a simple solution to a common problem within universities. Students have a lot going on, and having to lose your stuff only adds to the stress. The current solution involves finding your lost item on the university's social media platforms uploaded by a good citizen who came across it - but nobody wants that.
So here's FoundIt. This app changes the fundamentals so you, as a student, don't have to worry about losing your stuff again.
It's so simple - when you enter the app as a university student or faculty, you will see two buttons - 'Lost It?' and 'Found It?'. If you're the one who came across something, just tap on 'Found It?'. Snap a picture of the item within the app, select the type of item you found (for example, somebody's socks would be 'Clothing Item'), and hit 'Upload'. Voila!
Once you learn how to use it, it takes about 10 seconds to fire up the app and upload a lost item. That's how easy it is.
From research conducted in 2023, the number of lost items uploaded on the university's social media platforms is about 4x the number of items handed over to the university's safety division. It turns out that students are generally careless about posting about other's stuff online. Some just snap a picture of it and say nothing more than 'Leaving it here for you to find it'. And who can blame them?
FoundIt organizes this mess by taking care of everything for you - from when it was uploaded, to who uploaded it, to - get this - WHERE it was found.
That's it. That's the innovation. The 'where'. The magic of this app is that it integrates precise Location Services to find out exactly where you snapped a picture of the item, and uploads that along with the photo.
Now what about the 'Lost It?' button? That's for the unfortunate, the ones who mysteriously lose their item. Tapping on it would display all of FoundIt's fabulous categories to help you find your specific item, ranging from ID Cards to Jewelry. Then, simply tap on your item when you see it and 'Claim' it. The app opens up Maps for you, and literally takes you to it.
There's a bunch of other stuff to help you out when you need it - like 'Lifi Archive' and 'My Profile'. Download the app and witness the dynamic shift in fundamentals yourself.
[Note: This app is for Rochester Institute of Technology (New York) students and faculty only.]
