Description
Developed by the Center for Research on US Latino, HIV/AIDS, & Drug Abuse (CRUSADA) at Florida International University (FIU) the SALVA application combines traditional solutions with a novel approach. Assisting underserved populations to receive the services they need. Traditionally such a task would require training community health workers to link hard-to-reach and underserved communities to local resources. However, by gathered information on many of the available community services and resources and placing it at the community’s fingertips, SALVA empowers the underserved population. SALVA provides information on local nonprofit and government agencies that provides substance abuse services, help to victims of violence, legal aid, HIV/AIDS testing and services, housing, financial help and training, educational programs, and more. SALVA is bilingual and informative and maintained by the CRUSADA at FIU.
