Lights working ok, app could use help

We really like the lights but have needed to have service out a couple times already for dying zones. Service has been good but I do wonder long term how they’ll hold up.

The app is a hit clumsy and has some frustrating, simple errors, for example the login screen isn’t configured as a password prompt so it doesn’t pull up saved passwords, you can’t paste into it from keychain/PW manager, and since it’s not treating the PW box as a password it changes emerge first character to capital so the password always fails. Little things like this make it frustrating and have been there for a year now so it’s not just some little bug that’ll be fixed right away.

I love Everlights!

The company has been really great to work with. I bought my Everlights on kick starter. It took me a while to find somebody to install them, and since I hadn’t installed them yet everlights exchanged the old lights and controller for the new ones. With the company’s help, I found a great installer and I’ve been playing with the lights for the last week. There are still some bugs with the app, but I know they are working on fixing those bugs. Sometimes I lose connection to the controller and have to do some troubleshooting. That’s why I gave it four stars. Once the issues are fixed I’ll change it to five. The lights are vibrant and beautiful and it’s so much fun to make my own patterns and colors schemes. I highly recommend getting everlights! The company is very open and honest and is really great to work with. And my house is the best looking on the street!

Great if...

You are willing to try to connect 100 times and also willing to compromise your network to allow it to connect. I have all of my IoT devices on a VLAN and a separate wireless network but I had to dedicate one of the radios on the access point nearest to this to EverLights because it doesn’t support connecting to any networks with an even semi secure password. The fact that the app has so many glaring issues and hasn’t been updated in over 6mo is a joke. Even as a hobby I could do better, get it together guys!!! I wish I had more time to just sniff out what requests this app is making and build a better app/management tool for it. I do admit when it works it’s convenient and nice but after spending more time with LED arrays and both home brew raspberry pi controllers and my AlphaPix controller I’m about ready to just ditch the EverLights controller. Which is sad because it has its place but I can’t even use it half the time without resetting and connecting it. Also the support link provided in iTunes doesn’t exist.
