Try their other apps.

If you want the old setup, try using WattWise or HouseTrack. They are all from the same developer. Anyway, I've been using HouseTrack for a few days, and it’s the old Curb app with the same privacy policy. I would love to get more acute usage stats, but all of my monitors are clustered into one zone. Curb says they can’t program zones, the electrical contractor is responsible. Still trying to figure how that works. Why can the contractor label and designate zones, but the client cannot. And what magic software do they use that’s not available to the homeowner?

Now charging you for access to your data

I loved the Curb box in my electrical panel. I learned a lot about our power consumption by reviewing the detailed time series charts. Then they removed those charts from the app. So now I just go to the full website to see them. The app is fairly useless without the charts.

But now, as of Nov 2024, they are going to stop providing access to that data unless you subscribe to their service for a minimum of $4.99/month. This is not payment for or within the app. There will be no way to access your own data kin any way without paying Curb. Not in the app, not on the website, not through the API.

But keep in mind that you own the Curb box in your electrical panel. You bought it, even if it was included in your solar system installation. I have a warranty that describes me as the “end user purchaser.”

So even though I own the physical device, I can’t access my own data about my own electricity use without paying them monthly.

New version of app only shows instantaneous usage

The previous version showed historical telemetry curves, so you could see how solar, battery, and grid usage changed over a day (think while you are not able to stare at the app screen). This new version from a few months ago removed all that. If you didn’t update the app it’s all still there and of great use, but this new version is disappointing to say the least. I think I’d go with Emporia if I could choose again.
