Release Notes: Phase 11 - Version 2.5.0

Dear Valued eGovPH Users,

We are thrilled to announce the release of Phase 11, Version 2.5.0, for the eGovPH app! This update introduces several exciting features and improvements to enhance your experience and streamline functionality.

What's New:

1. Scanner Feature for Verified Users:
Verified users can now verify other eGovPH app users through a convenient QR code scanning feature. This ensures a faster and more secure verification process.

2. Share Information Consent with User Information Selection:
When a user is verified via the QR code scanner, a consent modal will appear, allowing the verified user to select which specific information to share. This provides more control over data sharing and privacy.

3. eGov AI:
Introducing our comprehensive AI assistant! The eGov AI feature now includes the following capabilities:
-General Queries
-Document Extractor
-Image Identifier
-Translator: (Coming soon)
-Coder/Programmer: (Coming soon)
-Speech Maker
-Identity AI: (Coming soon)
-Tourism Information
-Laws and Regulations Assistance

4. Add Signature:
The signature feature has been updated from mandatory to optional, giving users the flexibility to decide whether to include their signature.

5. Mobile ID Concerns:
We’ve added a dedicated feature for handling Mobile ID concerns. Users can now:
Easily access our support contacts.
Be redirected to the eReport feature to report any Mobile ID issues seamlessly.

Thanks for finally allowing us Filipinos abroad to make accounts! I’ve been waiting long, but it seems the wait will be worth it. Problem though is verification for the short-sighted: We’re supposed to take selfies… WITHOUT glasses and STILL be able to read when to look forward, right, and left while the phone/camera is at a distance. Perhaps, an option for some audio-instruction will help here. I’ll try verification again soon.

Update #001: Tried again, but passport-recognition can be an issue. Just when I got the shots, the app timed-out and deleted everything.

Update #002: My account is verified! Yeah! (But I got while I got e-mail notifications of my account’s verification failing the 1st few times, I got 0 notice of the verification succeeding this last time, though. Still…) Quite frankly, I’m impressed with how the app works. The interface is well done, and the range of services seems quite good. Keep up the good work, and keep making it even better!

Update#003: Wow, that was a quick-response of an update! I’m the 1st in my family to make an account, so it’s good to know that the rest of my family (who are also near-sighted) will also benefit when they make theirs, due to my tries & your action. Thanks for your work! I’m looking forward to how this great app/resource of/for the Filipino people will develop. Keep up the good work! Excelsior!

Digital ID’s

That’s fantastic! It’s wonderful to hear about the progress in digitalization, especially when it comes to essential documents like our National ID, PRC ID, and OWWA ID. I wish this digital platform will continue to improve because I am an OFW and we are using this platform here in Saudi Arabia to link all our information and ID’s including our passport and it has indeed been at the forefront of digital transformation, and their commitment to enhancing services through technology is commendable. Kudos & thumbs up FILIPINO IT👏🫰🤍

Buggy and confusing, but a good start

I commend any country for trying to making exit and entry easier, and this app is a great start, but it still needs a ton of work.

There are SO many bugs. Just a few I’ve experienced: the login PIN I set sometimes doesn't work. The app takes a bunch of passport photos in sequence (so you get three pics before you can press the button, even though you only need one) and doesn’t automatically format it in portrait orientation. My passport photo got rejected because it wasn’t clear enough… even though it was. No idea why the team behind this app rejects passport photos so often. The app wouldn’t let me login with a password or PIN in the airport, but the next time I opened it at home I’m suddenly able to log in via Face ID, no problem. The list goes on.

The app can be a bit confusing to use. Registering travel, for example. It was confusing where to put my birth country versus the country I came from during travel. The dates are weird. It didn’t let me select the actual flight that I came on. Etc. And there needs to be a clear delineation between an entry/exit flight and just registering your passport for the account.

It’s better than how immigration was before, that’s for sure. I was through the immigration queue in a quarter of the time compared to before. Hoping this app irons out the issues to make things as easy as it is when entering other SE Asian countries. Props to the dev team and PH gov on their work so far.
