Doyle Guides produces the southern Caribbean's most comprehensive and up-to-date sailing guides, complete with nautical charts and navigational information, details on regulations, customs and immigration, general and technical yacht services, marinas, restaurants, provisioning, shore-based attractions, and more. The Doyle Guides mobile app allows users to search our comprehensive 3000+ point of interest database with results shown based on distance from the user and displayed on an interactive satellite map where users can leave public comments as well as suggest corrections and new points of interest, all free of charge. Subscriptions to guide book content is available on both long and short term basis, as well as bundled by island.

Great content - Horrible app
The content is great. Just like the old hard copy. The app however is just horrible. Using this on an iPad is maddening. Every few minutes the app freezes then closes. I’ve never seen an app perform this poorly. Hire a professional app developer, PLEASE.

Stranded without content
So far, we’re not impressed. We subscribed before our trip but the content was blocked after the trial expired yesterday even though the Apple ID shows us subscribed and active.
We are now hours from starting our charter with no access. We would have purchased the hard copy but it is unavailable everywhere. No doubt this is to sell app subscriptions.
We have 2 other Doyle guide books which have good content but the app idea is terrible if it can’t be accessed easily.

Hi, I'm so sorry the app took an extra day to update your subscription status. I know that when you're on charter every day counts! Unfortunately subscription status updates and initial download of content rely on and can be affected by internet connection quality, but I'm glad you were able to access the content.
Updated hard copies of our Leewards books will be available this November. Our regular update and reprint schedule was affected by Covid, which is why hard copies have been hard to come by, and was a major factor in our decision to put the Leeward content on the app - we wanted to make it available to those that otherwise could not get a hard copy.

Much faith required to spend $40 on unknown…
Virtually all meaningful content requires an upfront subscription ($40). There are only 4 prior reviews, none of which I can access. So all in all, hard for me to decide to subscribe w/o more assessment.

Hi DaStefano, we understand your concern! All subscriptions come with a free trial period. For 12-month subscriptions there is a 7-day free trial period, for 1-month subscriptions it is a 3-day trial period. If you're not happy with the content you can cancel your subscription before the end of the free trial period without being charged.
