Description

DOTKey is an exciting new way to type. Unlike traditional keyboards with their "one size fits... nobody" approach, DOTKey offers a user-friendly experience that adjusts to your hand instead of forcing you to adjust to it. With DOTKey you can type quickly and accurately--even with one hand--without needing to look at the keyboard as you type.

As a new way to type, DOTKey does take some time to learn. The great news is that learning and practicing is surprisingly fun and easy!

Connect DOTKey to your computer as a wireless keyboard!

Users of DOTKey have already demonstrated one-handed typing speeds of over 60 words per minute. Can you do better?

Innovative!

I’ve found this app so much fun to use! It’s a great challenge for the brain, muscle memory and even hand-eye coordination. I find it frustrating, though that there isn’t any auto-correct to speed up the process. Additionally, and this is my biggest complaint, the calibration keeps switching on me so that the order of the dots is reversed. Is there some way to turn off that feature? I mean, I’m right handed and always will be so I don’t want the thing to keep pretending that I suddenly started using my non-dominant hand.

[UPDATE]

Hi rd834,

We just wanted to reach out and let you know that the issue you brought to our attention with inversed dot orientation has been fixed in one of the most recent updates (2.0.2). We hope this makes a big difference for you and look forward to hearing your feedback about it. Thank you for your support, and keep us updated!

Thanks,

- The DOTKey Team

[ORIGINAL]

Hi rd834,

Thank you for leaving a review and your feedback! As for the difficulty you are having with the calibration, I think we can help you out. It sounds like DOTKey isn't actually thinking you switched hands, but rather that you are on the other side of the device (i.e. upside down) DOTKey uses the shape of the pattern that your fingers form when they tap the screen to predict your orientation. If your middle finger ends up "lower" on the screen than the two fingers on either side of it then DOTKey thinks you are oriented "upside down". We are looking into a method of predicting when this has happened by accident without losing flexibility , but in the meantime: try to extend your fingers a little bit more (i.e. less curl to them) and hold your hand so that your palm is parallel to the touch surface. This is not only generally more comfortable for extended typing, but it also increases the reliability of the auto-calibration functionality.

Let us know how it goes!

Sincerely,
-The DOTKey Team

Great idea!

I’ve been using dot key for almost a month now. I love the concept of being able to type quickly without looking. Learning to type comes slow at first but it’s quite fun to learn, and being able to walk around with my head up while typing has made it worth the effort. I haven’t quite reached my normal texting speed yet but I’ve improved quickly by doing short practices here and there. The app is great at helping you learn. One thing I would improve is to include an auto correct that can be toggled on or off. I would also like to be able to continuously backspace without having to do repeated gestures. One gesture being held for however long would work great!

Developer Response ,

Thank you for the great feedback! We are so pleased to know that you are enjoying your experience so far.

As far as the backspace issue goes, we definitely feel your pain! We are working on being able to hold letters down like you described, but for the mean time you can delete an entire word by swiping left (when using your right hand––swipe to the right when using your left hand) with the same fingers you use for normal backspace (ring and middle fingers).

Keep an eye out for updates and thank you again for the feedback!

Retrnon ,

Amazing app!

This app has truly changed the way I type! The ability to type fast on my phone is an amazing resource that I never imagined could be utilized.
One change I would like to see is to add sensitivity so the slightest touch wont set off the keyboard. Also, please make a circle-less mode so I have the options to turn off the circles(which can be distracting to the eye).
I hope to see improvements and additions to this idea! I would love to have a dedicated pad to plug into my pc(that is larger than my phone), and dotkey on the computer!

Developer Response ,

Retrnon,

Thank you so much for the feedback! We love hearing how you use DOTKey and your great ideas. SPOILER ALERT we are actually working to make what you’re describing with a physical device a reality. It’ll take some time, but with your continued support we’ll get there. We are also adding some great new customization features to the look and feel (hopefully in the next couple weeks), so keep an eye out for that. That’s a great idea to be able to turn off the circles. We’ll look into that and see what we can do!

As always, feel free to reach out to us directly with any specific questions or concerns at contact@dotkeyboard.com.
