Saves me taking out my laptop

It’s so nice to be able to see my monitors and dashboards from my phone, so I can triage without opening my laptop. Saves me a bunch of time and I can triage faster this way.

Pointless out of the box

DD is basically just an overpriced ripoff of a collection of already established open source tools and this app is just a worthless wrapper around that.

The app itself doesn't do much other than display. I mean you really can't do much out of the box. Can't see dashboards unless you own them, searching is so restrictive that you're just wasting your time even looking at it. Basically it requires massive setup and spending days getting everything setup for yourself on the desktop version first.

Then just ask yourself, why am I just not using the mobile site via a browser? So then what exactly is this app for? I mean at least they can claim they have an app, but I find it pretty much worthless unless you sunken so much time to setup everything up for yourself using the desktop client that you might as well just save yourself the hassle and just do that meaning this thing is pointless. I guess the have to spend all that money they make ripping off and reselling open source tooling somehow. Give more back to those you are ripping off.

Fix UI Performance issues, Design needs work

If you are looking at simple charts with very few metrics (1 or 2) then the app is adequate. If you have a complicated system and charts with more metrics don’t bother. Just login to the website on your phone and you will have a far better experience. And because I have the app now all my browsing attempts to datadog open the app that is borderline useless. So I am uninstalling for now.

Design wise there is a lot that this app has going for it....but don’t look for any semblance of familiarity. It is like the mobile app was designed on a different planet.

The SSO sign in process is probably the most clunky that I have ever seen on an enterprise app. This isn’t a mobile problem specifically, but the sign in process on the app is that much worse because of it.

It appears this app was released with little testing outside of the happy path and little weight was put into what people do with datadog in the real world.

Developer Response ,

Hi Riguytofly, sorry to hear that the app doesn't match your expectations. We are working to improve dashboards and our general design, and hope that the next versions will work better for you. We would be glad to discuss more about your needs and share design mockups - feel free to email us directly at mobile@datadoghq.com! Thank you
