Description
Dance of the Planets is a solar system sonification composed by Desert Magic. It's an interactive, unfixed digital medium that maps orbital speed to tempo and planetary position to stereo image. Create your own soundscape by activating, deactivating, and randomizing planet rotation in an endless, unpredictable swirl of cosmic polyrhythms.
* the tempo of each planet relates to its orbital speed. i.e. Mercury travels around the sun at 29.4 miles per second and therefore has a tempo of quarter note = 294

Amazing musical app!
This is an amazing interactive musical app that is the sonification of the solar system! It is wonderful for kids of all ages! By touching each of the planets, you initiate a musical sound with a distinct tempo based on each of the planet’s actual physics. The sound can be either wind, guitar or bells and can be randomized for infinite number of different combinations! The plane can also be adjusted just by scrolling with your finger up or down on the screen to view the solar system from different angles! There is a time adjustment as well for more sound variations. I love to use this app in the wind mode for meditation! Highly recommended!
