Description

The BMP mobile app from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection provides a digital version of the Best Management Practices for Water Quality While Harvesting Forest Products as well as several tools to assist certified forest practitioners, private landowners, and municipal officials to use while planning, executing, or monitoring commercial forest practices including:

• Default Job Settings – Users can enter their own operating costs on a number of variables to be linked elsewhere in the app.
• Job Details with Mapping – Users can link Default Job Settings with reference points on a map (both live and offline) identified by the user to calculate overall projected operating costs.
• BMP Cost Calculator – Users can link the Job Details with Mapping and Default Job Settings with respect to BMPs required to estimate the cost to install BMPs on a proposed operation.
• Soil Map – Users can access state level soils maps for location of wetland soils for compliance with environmental laws (both live and offline).
• Contacts – Users can easily contact Service Foresters, Enforcement Foresters, and Report a Spill.
• Clinometer – By taking a photo utilizing the camera of the mobile device, the app will instantly compute recommended BMP intervals on-the-go, eliminating the need to refer back to paper manuals.
