The Daily Herald

That my home town

Liberal Me ,

Seriously Disappointing!!!

I feel as if I’ve lost my very best friend. There is nothing about this “so-called improved Daily Herald” that is an actual improvement. My first noticed disappointment is the removal of the print function of its crossword puzzles. In fact, the ability to print the daily crossword puzzle was my major reason continuing paying for the e-edition since Gannett took ownership — besides the fact there’s very little local news contained in it! Another aggregation: being required way too frequently to log in to my account and match all those stupid pics that are near impossible for someone like me who is vision impaired. When I have the Daily Herald app on my home page, I should be logged in to the paper that I’m paying for. In summary: I hate it, and I can’t even find a way to terimate my account and, you sure can’t talk to a person! It saddens me to give up a daily paper I’ve enjoyed for 40 years, but I’m getting nearer to making it happen every day.

Snakelips ,

Nope!

I've been using the other app, the one that includes several of Gannett's papers. It works fine, and meets my needs. Fire the last week or so, every time I open that app there's a popup urging me to download THIS app instead. So today I did.
The FIRST thing I saw after logging in was a video ad.
The second thing was a windowed interface that put the full page in a narrow strip down the middle of my iPad. The only way to enlarge it was to select an article. Read yet, then back to the unreadable full-page view. Select another article. Rinse, repeat.
Uninstalled.
