Description
This is an ultimate solution for transferring and organizing files. We carried out competitor analysis and created the best solution for those who aren't willing to spend time on useless tasks like renaming, copying or moving files. Rename would be a great assistant in everyday routine work. We understand that nobody wants to sit and read long manuals especially if one needs to perform such a simple action as renaming files. That's why we made an interface of the app as simple as possible.
Made for photographers, video makers
People who perform same actions with files every day will love our program. Let’s say that you are a photographer and keep all your files in folders sorted by location and date. So, every time when you need to copy/move photos from a camera you have to create a new folder, name it, drag and drop files and, if you are a real geek, then also to rename all the photos. It’s a lot of clicks. But, with our program, all you need to do is choose files and press rename button. That is all. All other operations the program performs automatically.
Working with folders
There were a lot of complaints about inability of other programs to work with folders and subfolders. So we fixed it and now the app could easily rename folders, subfolders and even files in them. This is really helpful if you are into efficiency, organization and order.
Drag and drop functionality
What are you talking about? It’s a must-have feature for modern programs. We don’t know why we are even writing about it.
Simple user interface
It’s crucial for programs and applications to be user-friendly. Nobody wants to read long, boring documentation in hope to figure out how a program works. It’s not just time consuming and irritable but also unnecessary. That is why we thought through the whole process of using Rename and made user experience as comfortable as possible.
Working with tags and spotlight comments
Fast search in Apple products is a very important part of the working process, that's why we also integrated tagging functionality. It’s remarkably easy to add comments to files that you want to rename. You just enter the comment and press the "rename" button.
Features at a glance:
- Move/copy files to a new or existing folder
- Add/remove suffixes, prefixes
- Work with folders, subfolders and subfiles
- Drag and drop functionality
- Copies spotlight comments
- Rename extensions
- Lowercase/uppercase functionality
- Replace characters
- Save settings
- Dark mode

Ratings and Reviews
Won’t update
Was able to contact app author via his Twitter account and voiced my concerns about the bugs; he has contacted me back and told me that he addressed the problem of dragging files into the window and making the app work correctly; I went to the app store and looked up the app and sure enough the version given was 1.1; BUT for some reason my laptop won’t update it. I have been using the app successfully by pressing the add button on the lower left part of the window and that works fine. Hopefully Sergey will read this review and tell me what to do about my updating the app on my laptop. Thanks, Sergey.
Seems to work well - 3 suggestions...
Works well… I was easily able to prefix a list of files with an incrementing counter. 3 Suggestoins though. 1) Add the ability to pad the incrementing counter with leading 0’s. i.e. 001,002, 010, 011, etc. MacOS seems to sort correctly without the leading zero’s but it looks better visually if they were there. 2) The Menu Help item does not open a help page. The ? on the Renamme Window does work however. 3) The Write Us link on the ? page leads to a web page in Russian (I think) an English contact page would be useful.
Developer Response ,
Thank you for your comments. You are right, filenames with the leading zero’s look better so in the next update I'll add the ability. I'm really sorry for the (2) and (3). I know that it's not an excuse but I absolutely forgot about the Menu Help item. I'll solve this issue in the next update. Also I've already fixed the third item. So, please, feel free to write your thoughts about the app to the contact page 🙏
Works Great!
So far so good. Works great for renaming bulk files. There is only one thing I noticed that would be a nice fix for a next update. Since I have my scroll bars set to show always, the left menu is cut off where the vertical scroll bar is. Maybe add 10 more pixels to the right of the left menu.
Thanks!
UPDATE: Developer updated the app from my concerns above fairly quickly. This app is great and worth it.
Developer Response ,
Thank you for the review. Sorry for the inconvenience. I'll adjust the width of the left menu in the next update in a day or two.
