Best Opening Trainer Out

I can't remember the last time I wrote an App Store review. But I have to for this app. Built in engine, % seen in GM games, names for variations 7+ moves in.

The free options are fantastic, and i went to pro strictly to support the devs as I have my entire (limited) repertoire in and only use 50%.

If you have any experience with file management, then the structures of how to arrange your openings help determine the built in spaced repetition. If you have one major line you wanna flush out with several variations, add that and practice. If you have several 5-7 move deep shorter openings (common for low elo like myself) it's easy to set those up and get more familiar with all of them after two weeks and not even realize it.

The only "effort," I put in was tapping through the suggested responses with what I see in my games. Now the platform offers me spaced learning, games with similar tactics, and common variations to continue a line once I'm familiar.

AND THEY HAVE A WEB PLATFORM FOR FREE!

An amazing app that's already improved my openings greatly with the least amount of work put into having it be useful. 6/5 new standard

Perfect app for building a chess repertoire

I’ve really been enjoying this app. I’m around 1200 rapid and noticed I was making a lot of mistakes in the opening. It takes a little time in the app to build up the personalized repertoire you want, but once you do it’s great for learning fundamental openings and practicing lines. The app is well polished and very intuitive. I like the daily recommendations and reviewing the master games. Great for players who have passed the beginner stage and want to build into learning openings of their choice.

The perfect app for tournament players!

This app is everything you could ever want from a repertoire book. This is NOT a replacement for books/courses, and NOT for beginners! All in all, a great resource that utilizes spaced repetition for memorization of imputed lines.

I only gave 4 stars because of a small gripe. Move descriptions. Very few lines have explanations, and with the ones that do, there are many errors (i.e, a knight move being described as “developing a bishop to the long diagonal”). IMHO, as an app made for advanced players, move descriptions are not strictly necessary. Leave the opening explanations to the countless books, videos, and courses that are already available!
