Ratings and Reviews
Good app, needs more work
I dropped my Canon 70D and broke the remote port. So I needed an app with LiveView and programmable remote shutter release. The traditional Canon apps offer LiveView but not the remote *with timer*. The Pro version of the app is relatively cheap compared to a piece of hardware and in my case the only way to have remote connectivity.
The interface is simple. This app does everything I need for remote shooting with a few annoyances: connection drops often, and it only seems to work in infrastructure mode (i.e. over an existing WiFi network). It seems to be easier to re-establish the connection by clearing the cache. Also, was not able to connect to camera in access point mode (i.e. when the camera itself is the access point), so at the moment not able to use the app outside of my home WiFi network. Please fix the access point mode so I can use the app outdoors. I’m into astrophotography and need to use the camera in the mountains, desert etc.
Developer Response ,
hi, access point mode works with my cameras (6D, 6D2, 1300D). also make sure to select "Eos Utility mode", if available (the icon that looks like a laptop). if you are on the go you can also use the "personal hotspot" of your phone. the app will show "no wifi" though but it will find the camera
It transfers images from my Canon to my iPhone
It transfers images from my Canon 4000D to my iPhone SE. I worked for hours with the Canon app before giving up on it. I had no problems connecting with the WiFi and working with the Canon & iPhone using this app. I was not trying to do a lot with it, no videos or live stuff. What I did was shoot pictures outside with the Canon, then I came back in the house and got on the Canon’s WiFi which was shown on my iPhone settings and I got on this app which is on my iPhone and viola! I selected the pics to save to the iPhone photo album. Don’t be sidetracked by “No internet connection” ignore that. So anyway I compared photos from the iPhone to the imports from the Canon and found the Canon pics were slightly better, despite having been sent through WiFi. I got the Canon 4000D expressly for astrophotography and I had to have WiFi capability. So a few minutes ago I got the $24 (I think it was) package. Because it works for me. Does what I need.
Amazing APP
I am not the kind of guy who will take the time to write reviews, but this app is a lifesaver for me and I am so grateful to have it for my work. Gotta give some love and respect.
I’ve used Canon gear for years, and part of the reason was the Camera Connect app from Canon was so superior to Nikon‘s version. I tried the CamRanger, which is a pretty good system and recently a couple of other hardware based wi-Fi solutions.
With my new Nikon Z camera I was back to torturing myself with SnapBridge or tripping over a tether until I read about this app. To be able to set a WiFi connection to my iPad Pro and then open the pro version of ccc and just go to work is incredible.
With SnapBridge, once you are connected the camera controls no longer function. You have to close the connection if you want to shoot some hand-held shots. Then make another connection to go back to APP Control.
With the CCC APP, I can take the camera off the tripod and swap to a macro lens for some close-ups, without losing my connection. I can select the film strip view and blow up the last image and as I shoot with the camera the images download to the iPad, fill the screen and can be heavily zoomed farther.
Just Awesome.
If you are struggling with dropped connections (mine are rock solid) make sure your camera isn’t timing out. Find the auto-off menu and set it to “never.” You may want to buy a couple of extra batteries.....
Developer Response ,
thanks a lot. I appreciate it :)
