Ratings and Reviews
Like the pre-iOS 14 Apple Calendar ... but better!
With the recent iOS 14 update, the Apple calendar “went backwards” on the usability and user interface of the iPhone calendar that comes with the phone. So after I gave up trying to adapt to this new Apple calendar, I searched the App Store and found this gem of a calendar app. This app’s calendar has a very similar look and feel to the Apple calendar I’ve used for the past 5 years (until last week), with a clean interface that’s simple to use. The only thing I wish it had was a way to set up recurring events. But, again, I’m very pleased with this “beautifully simple” calendar app.
Use it alongside the default calendar
I use this app because it has specific features I want, but it’s overall not great. Creating calendar events just isn’t as easy as the default calendar app, so I still create new events there. The day view doesn’t space things out based on their time, so I still use the default calendar for that. It also has a weird issue where events sometimes flicker on the screen.
What this app does do well is have a month view where you can see all of your events and being able to view a day’s details in a small pop-up without needing to leave the month view. That’s what I like from it. I also like that it scrolls vertically instead of having horizontal month pages like a lot of other calendar apps.
This app for me is specifically a month overview app that I use alongside the default calendar app, but is not fully-featured or refined enough to be a complete replacement.
Ok..suggested improvements
I downloaded this app because I much prefer a calendar view where I can see the whole month at once. HOWEVER, there are a couple caveats that are driving me to find another option. The main issue is that everything I’ve added from previous months disappears. For example if I wrote in a doctor appt and want to go back a few months and check what date it was, the app has erased it. Please tell me if there is a way to keep this from happening!!
Another issue is that I travelled overseas in a different time zone. While abroad for 3 weeks I added in many appointments for my entire family to be completed upon return. When I returned home, all of those appointment times were messed up, because the app somehow converted them to the time zone I was previously traveling in rather than saving them in the format I entered.
These are annoyances that I would love solutions to, otherwise I’ll be looking for a different calendar.
Developer Response ,
Hi CC_B41, Thank you for downloading our app! In many cases, it’s because your ‘Sync’ setting of the standard iOS Calendar is still set to the default value, “Events 1 Month Back”. Calendar Op.2 shares your calendar data with standard iOS Calendar app, so you need to change the setting of the standard iOS Calendar in order to make your old events visible on your device by following the steps below. Launch ‘Settings’ app from the home screen. Go to ‘Calendar’ > ‘Sync’ in the Settings app. Select “All Events”.
As for the timezone, you need to select the timezone in the 'Timezone' setting in the app. If this setting is set to 'Auto-select', it always changes according to the device timezone like you mentioned.
