Description

Scan, manage and share digitized shooting targets for the modern sport shooter

Blackhole - the app for target shooters

Blackhole is an app for sport shooters. It supports you in your shooting sport by simply taking pictures of your shooting targets with your cell phone. The targets are automatically evaluated and your shooting images are archived in the digital shooting book. Share your shooting results with other shooters within the app.

Target evaluation with your cell phone

For target evaluation, place your ring target on a plain background after shooting and take a picture of your target with the Blackhole app. The app will then evaluate the shots on the target to the 10th of a ring within a few seconds and display the hit image and the values determined for the individual hits. After the evaluation, you can manually add, edit or delete individual hits in the shot image.
The App supports ring targets from the shooting associations:

International - ISSF; USA - NRA; Great Britain - NSRA; Australia - TRA; Netherlands - KNSA; Denmark - DGI; Germany - DSB, BDS, BDMP, DSU, KYF, BSSB; Switzerland - SSV

Write us if you miss a target or your federation so we can close the gap.

Wizard for recording your target

The app supports you in taking optimal pictures of your target by using an optical level to help you keep your phone as perpendicular and steady as possible to the target. The camera of your cell phone is then automatically triggered when the target is optimally positioned in the picture.

Your results in the hit image at a glance

Look at your hit image in detail. The hit position and the scattering and the hull circle provide you with information on how to optimally adjust your sight and improve your shooting technique.

Graphical analysis of hit images

Track your progress in shooting training. Graphs help you compare your shot images and show you trends. So you know you're on the right track.

Your shooting log goes digital

Manage your shooting results from anywhere. From now on you always have your shooting book with you and keep track of all your training and competition sessions. In the detailed view you can look at and analyze every single shot in detail.

Get your equipment into the shooting book

Inventory your sports weapons, ammunition and other items. Link your inventory with your entries in the shooting book and compare your performance. With which sporting weapon have you shot the best so far? And how does your choice of ammunition affect the spread?

Show your shooting results

Show your friends your best shooting results in the digital Shooters Lounge or post them on your favorite social platform. You can be proud of your shooting achievements.

Export your shooting results as PDF

Create a shooting log or detailed logs of your events and export the documents as PDF.

Export your training records

Have your shooting instructor sign your shooting results directly on your phone and export your training record directly as a PDF.

Shooting results of your friends

See how your friends shot and with which equipment in the news feed. You can show them your appreciation with a "thumbs up".
You can compare your shooting results with those of other shooters and compare them in charts.

Still needs work

Trying to scan 10m Air Rifle targets. Most 10m air shooters in the US shoot on the NRA-5/10 target, which has 10 of the NRA-5 bulls on one sheet, (with 2 additional sighter bulls). So it’s trying to find 10 shots on one bull when there’s only one.

When I tried to scan 10 individual shots, I couldn’t get it to save the shots. Also, I was using a target that was previously scanned to compare accuracy. This app was regularly .2 - .5 off.

The best way to get a good scan would be to have the large green ring line up with the shooting black. This is what I tried to do, but it was too close.

Needs more work before it’s a useable system. Will continue to use the other app until improvements are made.

Developer Response ,

Thank you very much for the feedback.
The NRA-5 target is the same as the international ISSF 10m air rifle target, which many users have already scanned without the problems mentioned.
The Blackhole app always tries to find the number of shots given by the user. This is 10 by default. In your case, please change the number of shots to 1 on the live image page and please scan each bull separately. Please make sure that the correct caliber (.177) is set and that you use a plain background with no pattern, such as a white sheet of paper. Please do not use the back of another target.
You can save the result of the first bull in a new "event" after the scan by clicking on the disk icon. Since the data is stored device-independently on our server, you need an account. You can create one for free with a nickname and an email address. You can save the results of further bulls in the same "Event" preferably in the same series. You can find instructions on our website at https://www.blackhole-app.com/manual/. Also have a look at the video tutorials (unfortunately only in German), on which the 10m air rifle target is scanned.
The green ring should be aligned with the outermost ring of the target.
We would be very happy if you send us a picture of your target on the used background to info@blackhole-app.com, so we can have a look at the specific case and support you. We look forward to hearing from you.

Works great for 10m indoor air rifle

I use to score 10m air rifle targets, 6 shots per bull. Worked very well (after I spent ten minutes reading the instruction manual). Kudos to the developers! Might be a good idea to add English language subtitles to the instructional videos.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for your review. We are happy if you like our app. The subtitle thing is a good idea, we will address this issue as soon as possible.
